Zoom Update

Zoom Sign-In Options: On Friday, February 12, we will be changing the Zoom sign-in setting to “GAPS sign-in required.” Students must sign into Zoom with their GAPS email address. This will allow us to minimize disruptive behavior. The sign-in is the same process that we have been asking students to use, so all videos and tutorials are still applicable.

Persistent non-verbal feedback: Teachers communicated that they wanted the non-verbal feedback to be persistent to easily monitor various tasks. This issue has been updated and reverted back to being persistent. Users will need to update to the recent Zoom update released Feb. 1, 2021. Zoom version 5.5.0 will return to the persistent non verbal feedback. NOTE: The Zoom update does not carry over to existing meetings. Here is a fix:

Clever Login Settings

On Friday, February 19, we will be removing the Clever login requirement on Chrome tablets. Instead of students using their Clever badge, they will type in their GAPS email address and password. The password is the 7-digit Student ID number that is printed on report cards. After the first login, students will only need to put the Student ID number (DBN) in for subsequent logins. Elementary staff will need to train students/parents how to log students on prior to February 22nd.

Parents Asking to Join Zoom Classes

Teachers and Principals: We have started to get a small number of requests from parents to join Zoom meetings. Currently, parents are not able to join meetings through Canvas or Seesaw. We are directing parents to contact their student’s school principal to make arrangements to observe a class.
