Club Description

Threads of Kindness is the newest club developed at Adkins Elementary. Through this club 4th and 5th grade students are instructed in the proper and safe procedures for the use of a sewing machine and the creation of handmade products through sewing. This club is a service oriented club that supports the mission of the school: Learn. Connect. Serve. Students are invited to create items for the school, the community, and beyond.

Club Guidelines

  • Members will follow directions from all club sponsors.

  • Members will attend all club meetings unless absent from school.

  • Members will be willing to fully participate in all club tasks: preparing fabrics, measuring, cutting patterns, ironing, hand-stitching, machine sewing, etc.

  • Members will exercise caution when using items such as: needles, pins, scissors, irons, sewing machines, etc.

  • Members will show kindness to everyone in the club.

  • Members are encouraged to bring a sewing machine to school on club days. (Machines will be kept in a secure area in the library until 2:50 p.m.)

  • Members must have their own transportation, and be picked up no later than 3:45 p.m. in the front of the school.

  • While every effort will be made to ensure safety for all club members, club sponsors, or the school, will not be held liable for any injury that may occur.

  • First club meeting will be held on Oct. 14, 2015.

  • Students interested in joining the club will need to submit a signed permission form by Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015.

Large clear totes for our supplies

Sewing machines: new, or gently used in good working order

Gift cards to these stores will allow us to buy fabric supplies needed for special charity projects: Joann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, Hancock Fabrics
