Mrs. Adie's Art Room

Studio Art 8

April Newsletter

As the third marking period ends and we begin the final marking period, I am excited for spring (despite this crazy snow storm today) and wanted to share some of our beautiful nature drawings that students created last month.

Surreal Drawing

This month, we are wrapping up our drawing unit with studying perspective drawing. Perspective drawing helps create the illusion of space and form in a flat work of art. Students also studied Surrealism, a style of art that mixes dreams with the imagination to create strange and unusual works of art. After exploring several Surrealist tools used by artists like Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali, students will combine perspective drawing and surrealism into a creative work of art.

Student Art Gallery

Student artwork is showcased on Artsonia, the world's largest online student art museum. Parent permission is required before artwork can be viewed. Permission slips were sent home with students at the beginning of the year and parents can use the permission slips to sign up at home or return it to Mrs. Adie. You can also give your permission via email to at adiek@sgfcsd.org.

Art Club

Art Club is open to all seventh and eighth grade students and meets on Wednesdays afternoons during the activity period. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of art media, perfect their art skills, expand their art knowledge, and interact with peers who have similar interests.
