MassBay Summer Program Opportunity!
The Summer STEM Sampler program is designed to give high school students exposure to different areas of STEM. The workshops are a five day exploratory (July 15-19) in: Science (Biotechnology Lab Work); Technology (Robotics and Web Design); Engineering (Engineering Design); and Math (interactive, contextualized in STEM). The program is free for students and is funded by STEM Starter Academy. We are seeking to enroll high school students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch, will be the first in their family to attend college, and/or are under-represented in college admissions. Preference will be given to rising juniors, seniors and graduating seniors.
To apply for the program, applicants must complete:
1) The online Summer 2019 STEM Sampler Workshops for High School Students Application which can be accessed here:
The program is not completely full. We can accommodate up to 25 students in the program. We are looking for motivated students who have an interest in or are curious to learn about STEM education and potential careers. Interest in attending MassBay as a college student is a plus! Applicants initially considered for this program will be interviewed before final enrollment decisions are made. All applicants will be notified by June 28th.

National Honors Society is an organization with chapters in high schools all across the country. Its four pillars are service, scholarship, character, and leadership. Students must meet certain academic requirements in order to be invited to apply. National Honors Society members are deeply involved in both their school and local communities. The Keefe Tech NHS chapter currently has 37 members in 10th and 11th grades, and is graduating 19 12th graders.
New inductees were escorted in by current NHS members and welcomed by NHS President, Max Foster. The NHS Officers gave interpretations of the 4 pillars of the National Honor Society. Briae Hughes, Secretary, spoke about scholarship. Anjeh Titafangmbung, Historian, spoke about service. Kaitlyn Sok Treasurer, spoke about character and Jonathan Spalti, Vice President, spoke about leadership. Math instructors Jeffrey Griffin and Deborah Frank were this year's guest speakers.
