Update From the Executive Director
Happy Monday & the Start of Public Schools Week
Whether you are on spring break, coming off of spring break, or don't have a spring break, I hope this Messenger has something for you. "Public Schools Week is this week. Nine out of ten students attend a public school. With mounting changes in the education system, it is a critical time to speak out about the value of public education--the bedrock of our society." NASSP
Video by MoASSP President Ed Gettemeier, Principal Hardin MS
Take a couple of minutes to hear from our Association President. Ed provides helpful reminders for all of us as we prepare ourselves and our staff for the last couple of months of school.
Love the Quote
I wish my wife and I would have had this quote about 27 years ago when our oldest son was born. It's true. As you work with your parents, you might find the right opportunity to share this bit of wisdom.
Niles Media Group Sponsor Highlight
One of our newest sponsors is Niles Media Group. Check out their website to see all of the opportunities they can provide schools all around sports marketing and training students for broadcasting and game day productions. Soon, they will be producing video segments for MoASSP. Niles staff will be sharing information at the 47th Annual Spring Conference.
Survey Requests
I have included three opportunities for you to share helpful feedback regarding Career and Technical Education, Opioid Crisis, and Culturally Responsive Schools. Please take a few minutes to assist these efforts.
47th Annual Spring Conference
Since 1973, MoASSP has provided a time to gather at the Lake for professional development, networking, and inspiration. This Messenger offers a preview of things to come in just a few days at Lodge of Four Seasons. If you aren't registered, no problem. I have included all of the information you need.
Legislative Session Starts Back Up Today
Doug and I are headed back to Jeff City this morning for our weekly School Administrators Coalition meeting. Each of you should have received the Legislative Bulletin sent last Friday for a recap of where we are with legislative issues. We are at the midpoint mark of the session. MISSOURI PRINCIPALS have responded to our "calls to action." Thanks! Stay involved. We will keep you informed.
Washington DC Trip
Missouri was well represented this past week for NASSP's annual Advocacy Conference. I have included a couple of pictures in this Messenger as proof that we were there. (-: Seven of us were able to visit with ten senators and representatives about issues important to NASSP and MoASSP.
Assistant Principals Week April 8-12
I have included information about the upcoming AP Week.
Safe Travels & Next Messenger
Doug and I are looking forward to seeing you at the Lake in a few days. Travel safe. Be looking for the next Messenger around April 5. Of course, you can expect to see the Marshall Memo tomorrow morning. And, we will send out any Calls to Action regarding legislative issues.
Whether you are aspiring, emerging, developing, or transformational, wherever you are on the “Principal’s Journey," it is a “matter of principal(ple).” Clark Mershon
