History
Kia Motors Corporation was founded in May 1944 and is Korea’s oldest manufacturer of motor vehicles. It is now South Korea's second-largest automobile manufacturer. Starting of as a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts by hand, the company opened its first integrated automotive assembly plant in 1973. Kia is an multinational company with 14 manufacturing and assembly operations in eight countries.

Community
Kia Motor's commitment to CSR activities around the world are taken very seriously.
Local Community
- Kia's employee volunteer groups have been very dedicated to helping out in the local community.
- The company's “Happy Volunteer” program promotes volunteer work by college student clubs which assisted a total of 20 post-secondary clubs across the country in 2014.
Global Community
- The Green Light Project is a global program which aims to help the less fortunate with opportunities that allow them to follow their dreams, changing the “red light” in their lives to a “green light”.
- In 2012, Kia built a health center (the Green Light Center) in Salima, Malawi and in 2014, Kia Motor's completed building middle schools in Helene, Mozambique and Lilongwe, Malawi and Nagashanqui, Tanzania.
- The company's also establishing a car maintenance training center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which is expected to support mobile maintenance service and provide logistics operation vehicles for five years.
- Green Trip is a CSR program with various forms of travel assistance to people with physical disabilities so they're able to get out into their communities and participate in various activities.
Environmental
- Kia has new electric cars with efforts towards zero emission. This improves the efficiency and minimizes the losses.
- Kia Motors has an environmental goal for each workplace to achieve the minimizing of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission.
- They develop and apply means of cutting consumption and waste across the automotive life cycle.
- As of 2013:
- The energy and greenhouse gas has reduced by 154 kg per unit CO2
- From 2003, there has been 27% less waste for each unit/ car
- There has been a 30% decrease in water consumption reported since 2003 per unit/car
- Reports of "atmospheric pollutants" have shown a reduction of 44% since 2003
