Newsletter Term 1 Week 2

Patumahoe School 8 February 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPALS DESK

Welcome back to 2023.

Firstly, a huge thank you to all of our families for your support and understanding as we navigated the impact of the extreme weather event last week. To those whanau affected by the weather event, our thoughts are with you. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to support you.

It was lovely to welcome all of our akonga (learners) back to school yesterday. Moving through the classrooms there was a positive and jovial atmosphere, with many smiling children and teachers. I heard stories of awesome summer adventures being shared as our learners reconnected with their friends and teachers.

We are looking forward to our Whanau Evening scheduled for Thursday 23rd February. From 5:00 - 5:30p.m. all of our classrooms will be open for you to visit and if you haven't already done so this will be an opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher. Please be aware that this will not be a time to discuss your child's academic progress. From 5:30 p.m. we will enjoy each others company on the grass in front of the new senior playground. You are welcome to bring a picnic dinner, or our wonderful PTA will be selling sausages in bread for $2:00 and bottled water for $1:00. Mark the date in your diaries.

You may have noticed that our Junior Playground is taped off. The playground is no longer safe for children to use. We are working as hard as we can to provide a new, safe and developmentally appropriate playground as soon as possible. Please help to keep your children safe by ensuring that they do not play on the playground after school hours or in the weekends.

Calf Club Day Saturday 16th September -

This is a huge event, that is enjoyed by not only by our school whanau but also the wider Patumahoe community. Please lock the date in your diary, it is an event not to be missed.

I look forward to seeing you all around the school in the coming weeks. As always, our door is open, please do not hesitate to pop in and have a chat!
