#14 Covid19 Notice
30 August 2021 - Moving to L3 on Wednesday 1 September
Dear Parents, Whānau and Caregivers
The quick move to Level 4, record volumes of testing for COVID in the community, extensive wastewater testing, huge numbers of New Zealanders being vaccinated (more than 2 million people have now received their first dose), and a very wide net being cast around confirmed cases, has given the Government confidence that we are safe to move to Alert Level 3 on Wednesday.
At Alert Level 3, you must stay within your household bubble unless for essential personal movement, including going to work and going to school. As the Prime Minister noted last Friday, schools are essentially closed at Alert Level 3 with the exception of those few children whose parents and carers must go to work at Alert Level 3, and there is no appropriate caregiver at home.
So Paparangi will be open on Wednesday, for a small number of children who need to attend. We have been able to bring our opening day forward because exemptions have been given to begin cleaning today and tomorrow.
As you know it will not be school as we know it under Alert Level 2 or 1. All our usual safety precautions for Alert Level 3 will be in place which include following all the recommendations from the public health experts. This means we will
- clean and disinfect high touch surfaces
- encourage everyone to frequently wash their hands and cover their coughs and sneezes
- keep students physically distanced from others as much as possible (1 metre inside and two metres outside).
We will also keep school bubbles to no more than 10 students. Each bubble will not mix with other bubbles.
Our contact tracing systems will be in place and we will limit staff onsite with the majority of teachers still working from home.
We will continue to support all children who remain learning from home, through our distance learning programme.
While we know how difficult it is trying to work from home as well as support your child’s learning, please keep your child at home if there is an appropriate carer available.
For those of you with no other option, we will look forward to seeing your child at school on Wednesday or another date by arrangement with the Principal. A separate email has been sent to families who have indicated they require supervision for their children. If you haven't received an email this morning AND require supervision email the Principal immediately at principal@ paparangi.school.nz.
What are our plans?
Learning at Home
Learning at Home programmes will continue for the majority of children. Teachers are in contact by email and daily online hui. Remember do as much or as little, whatever is right for your family situation. There are lots of ideas that don't require a device.
What does school look like in L3?
As schools prepare to move to Alert Level 3 here is a reminder about what to expect. This information has been updated inline with public health advice released for schools at the weekend.
General Information
It is pleasing to hear that across New Zealand compliance is high. As you have been doing, please continue to follow all the alert level requirements at Level 4 and stay at home. It is the best tool we have to keep our community safe.
