School Cold Weather Protocol
- We recognize the value of outdoor breaks such as recess and lunch during the school day, however, when the weather is cold, outdoor breaks may not be a viable option. When temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor, it is recommended that students be kept inside for recess or lunch breaks. The -20 Celsius guideline is comparable to other school jurisdictions in Alberta and across Canada. Note this temperature is provided as a guideline and may be adjusted for the school/activity so even if you feel it will be indoor recess, please send your child with adequate clothing, including ski-pants, a hat, scarf and mitts.
- Drop off and Pick up in the parking lot is still not allowed. This past week, in addition to the cold, the lot is slippery. Students and adults are placed in a very dangerous position when vehicles are coming and going and even backing up through the lot! Please, lets follow the rules for the safety of our students and staff.
Grade 2L Assembly - What is the Advent ?
"Prepare the way of the Lord" serves as a main theme of this season. As we get ready for Christmas, we should not neglect to prepare our lives for Jesus, who came as "the light of the world." His light penetrated a dark world, which allowed all to see their Messiah, and the hope of their future.
We light a second purple candle on the second Sunday of Advent to represent the hope of Christ coming to the world.

Jesus' Stable is Filling Fast!
Wow - with support from families the students at Madonna have raised enough money so far to buy duckings, chickens, a rooster, sheep, 2 piglets, a bunny and a donkey! Do you see the cow trying to join the stable? We hope to have enough money to purchase the cow for a needy family very soon!
Thank you so much for your support!
Students Learning Sportsmanship!
In Health classes we having been cover the topic of Sportsmanship. Miss. Wiunow has been asking students to be mindful of demonstrating good Sportsmanship both in competitive play such as when playing sports in gym class as well as during recreational play outside at recess. Also, students have been challenged to demonstrate the characteristics of good sportsmanship by being encouragers, gracious winners, helpers and fun players. To deepen student understanding of sportsmanship, students listened to the book “Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns about Sportsmanship,” we watched real world examples from the Olympics and a boys International soccer competition as well as participated in a group building activity where groups of students built a show tower.
