3D Printers Get Test Run
Two new 3D printers were set up and tested at the CO last week. They will be making their way to West as soon as possible!

Silver Lining?
AP chemistry students recently changed silver ions to solid silver to "plate" a glass ornament. This hands-on experiment yielded a great learning experience and a beautiful Christmas ornament.

Christmas Band Concert
A remarkable group of musicians performed at the Cullman City Schools' Bands Program last week. It is exciting to see, and hear, all of these young musicians perform. We wish them the best as the continue to pursue their musical goals.
Merry Christmas from the Tackiest Pod at CMS!
These teachers are wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas in their best tacky Christmas sweater.

Can You Read This?
Yes, it says something!
East Beasts have added a new language to their repertoire and it's all done with ones and zeros!!! Binary code, a language that computers understand, is now understood by these students at EES. Students made ornaments with colored beads representing the series of ones and zeros needed to make holiday word ornaments.
Christmas Concert Brings Rave Reviews
The EES annual Christmas Concert was a hit again this year. We are so proud of this dedicated group of students!
Giving At Its Very Best
Instead of exchanging presents, we have classes that are donating to others. This is what Christmas is really about! #StockingsWithCare
All Aboard The Polar Express

Spelling Bee Champions
Our spelling bee was held last week. Congratulations to our winner, Alex J. and runner-up Willa S. The rounds became very exciting as these two battled to spell some incredibly difficult words. Alex finished the bee as champion by spelling pièce de résistance and anecdote in the final rounds. Congratulations to all spellers and especially to Alex and Willa!
Reindeer Games - A Great Way to Learn!
These students are enjoying the new Chromebooks and playing some reindeer games with Google Slides. Designing a reindeer, complete with accessories, and then writing about their reindeer gives these students an opportunity to combine reading, writing and computer literacy skills while having a lot of fun! Rumor has it that they even worked through break!!
Hot Chocolate and Theatre
This time of year is perfect for hot chocolate and cookies. When you pair those with Readers' Theatre you put students in a perfect state of mind for quality literacy instruction. These students read their part fluently, discussed their thoughts, and wrote about how they would help the family in the story.

Take a Ride On The Polar Express
Today is Polar Express Day at CCPS. We had Leo Club students from CHS here on Friday helping get things set up for this very exciting day! Make sure you have your golden ticket!
Game Changer!
Getting our students logged into their devices and/or their student accounts often results in a significant loss of instructional time. Making sure that our young students correctly type all of the personal information that is needed for a successful login shortens the amount of time available for learning. The introduction of Clever Badges (QR codes) as our method of logging in has been a game changer. Students now successfully log in with a swipe of their Badge in front of the Chromebook's camera!
Spreading Christmas Cheer
According to Buddy the Elf "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear" - so, we took his advice. CCPS students went caroling at local nursing homes. It was exciting for us and for the residents at these facilities, as well.
