MAP Practice Sites

  1. Math MAP-Excellent place to sharpen math skills.
  2. Prepdog-Take a practice test and sharpen your skills in math at this site.

Math

  • Students will estimate and practice measuring lengths in inches, feet and yards. Students will measure with the appropriate tool and determine how much longer one object is than another and express the difference.

  • Students will continue to study facts by heart. They can practice facts on Quizlet to increase fact fluency. This site has interactive flashcards and games to help students learn facts by heart.

Language Arts

Students will read for information in print and digital text. They will use non-fiction text features to deepen their understanding and then create questions for peers to answer. In writing, students will begin drafting "I am" poems.

In Lesson 37, we will learn when to drop the silent e when the suffix begins with a vowel as in hiking. Spellingcity is a popular site to practice this lesson.

Social Studies

In social studies, we will continue discussing westward expansion and slavery.

SC Picture Book Nominees

We are enjoying reading books from the 2014-2015 SC Picture Book Nominees list. As we read and discuss each book in class, students are given the opportunity to submit an online Book Review. I am then signing their blue record sheet. We hope to turn in all record sheets by 4/24 to Mrs. Matney in the Media Center. By doing this, we can receive an invitation to a READING Breakfast Celebration in May.

See Media Messages Link above for more details.

  • Here is the link for the Book Review Form in case your child wants to complete an online Book Review at home. Remember to sign the blue form or send a note and I can sign it.
