Our Pledge To Students and Families!
As a Lake View team of educators, we are committed to creating a welcoming school that empowers each student to unlock their unlimited potential!
Greetings! Fall is well under way and it has been a great one here at Lake View!
Veterans Day Celebration! For the first time in three years we were able to hold an in-person Veterans Day assembly! We used this opportunity to very explicitly teach our students what a Veteran is and why they deserve to be honored. Several students were able to honor the Veteran in their life at the assembly! Our Cardinal students did a wonderful job of showing our Veterans respect and gratitude for their service! Thank you to all that served or are serving to protect our freedom!
Student Goal Setting! At Lake View, we believe in the power of goal setting! Each fall students create a reading and a math goal, as well as action steps to achieve their goals. Throughout the year students will measure progress toward their goals and adjust action steps. The goal setting process helps create student ownership of their own learning as well as an understanding of the assessments they engage in. It is powerful! Ask your student about their goals and their plan to achieve them!
Every Minute Matters! Now that we are several months into the school year, it is important that we are reminded of how critical school attendance is. Each minute of your student’s daily schedule is intentionally planned. When students miss school, it is impactful. I encourage you to make school attendance a priority for your students. Please reach out to us if your student is experiencing barriers to regular attendance and you need support with addressing those.
Cardinal Character Trait of the Month is Respect! Our character trait of the month for November and December is Respect! Respect is shown by being polite and kind, using manners, following directions, and listening to others. We will be intentionally teaching and reinforcing respect throughout the month. Please join us in this effort!
Thanks for your partnership! Let’s make it another great month at Lake View!

Here are the Social Emotional Lessons that are being taught to Grades K-2 for the month of December.
*These lessons have been continued from November due to the shortened days*
Grades K-2 will be working on Problem Solving!!!!
Kinder and 1st Grade
Working on making good choices to solve problems. Learning what will make the problem better or what can make the problem worse. This includes making choices such as; walking away, finding another activity, telling them to stop or sharing your feelings.
2nd Grade:
We are focusing on Rock Brain in our Superflex journey. This is when you get “stuck” in a situation and can’t adapt to the new or changed situation. We are learning to have “rubber band”/flexible type thinking when situations change or don’t go our way.
Group topics that are running for Kinder-5:
1st Grade: Self-Control - Learning to manage yourself and emotions.
2nd Grade: Self Esteem - Positive self talk and identifying our own positive attributes.
3rd Grade: Confidence - Learning to stand up for ourselves and advocate for what we need.
4th Grade: Social Interactions - How to join groups and interact with others.
5th Grade: Self Esteem - Learning positive self image and thoughts and sharing our best with others.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS EVERY DAY!
Students need appropriate bedtimes, morning routines, and breakfast. Free breakfast and lunch is provided daily at Washington. If your student complains about not wanting to go to school, reach out to our office staff and we would be happy to work with you and provide support.
Missing only 15 days (about 1.5 days per month) in a school year has been proven to negatively impact the chance that your student can read or do math at grade-level. Consistent attendance is the foundation to success at school and is essential for student achievement and well-being.FREE SCHOOL MEALS!
Lake View Elementary
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the principal at Lake View Elementary School! I have had the privilege of serving as principal for five years at Lake View. I was formerly a teacher and assistant principal in the Auburn School District. I am a Washington State University graduate and die hard Coug! I enjoy being outdoors, camping, and spending time with my wonderful wife and two children! I hope to have the opportunity to learn more about each of you as we progress through your child’s journey at Lake View!
It is my pleasure to serve the students and families of the Lake View community! At Lake View we are committed to creating a welcoming school that empowers each child to unlock their unlimited potential. We are intentional about following through with that commitment each day as reflected in our daily student greetings, our systems for supporting all learners, and our belief that all students are college bound if they choose to be!
To do this work right, it requires all of us! I encourage you to engage in your child’s educational experience, whatever that may look like for you. We are on a path of maximizing long term hope for each student and I look forward to partnering with you along the way.
