What are they?

Constellations are named pattered, stars. Mostly named after people, animals, or other objects.


  • Leo: "Lion"
  • Apus: "Bird of Paradise"
  • Cancer: "Crab"
  • Zodiac: "Queen" (Perseus' mother)

Dark Cloud constellations

  • These are constellations seen from southern hemisphere, and not northern.
  • Only show when the Milky Way's central region is at its darkest.


  • Originally from ancient stories.
  • Greek, Latin, and Roman names (mostly)
  • 88 in all
  • There are 48 brightest
