The Malta Avenue Elementary Odyssey of the Mind team competed in the World Finals this past weekend. The team did well, placing 16th in their problem and division in a field of 38 teams from all over the United States, Poland, and South Korea. Congratulations to this talented team! We are very proud of you!
Walk to School Day
Walk to School Day on Wednesday, June 1st was a success! Thank you to Malta Avenue students, families, and staff members for participating in this event! It was a great way to start the day!
Spring Concert
A huge thank you to Mrs. Marshall and Mr. Norris for their commitment to our music program at Malta Avenue. The spring concert was spectacular! Congratulations to our orchestra, band, and chorus students! Bravo!

Faces of Malta Avenue and Retirees
This month's Faces of Malta Avenue include two staff members who will be retiring this spring! Congratulations to Ms. Barnwell and Ms. Stanziola on their retirements! They will be missed! Additionally, Ms. Kosinski, 2nd grade teacher, will also be retiring this year! Congratulations, Ms. Kosinski!

It's so relaxing! Favorite Movie: Grease Book Recommendation: Anything mystery Go-To Snack or Dessert: Dark Chocolate Peanut M & Ms Person I’d Like to Meet: Gordon Ramsey-I don't cook, but he's so entertaining! I love watching him on Master Chef & Master Chef Jr. What I love Most About Malta Avenue: I get to work with the most amazing people! I Became An Educator Because:I enjoy working with children- I love their enthusiasm & excitement! Faces of Malta Avenue Name: Ms. Stanziola Position: Teaching Assistant Dream Vacation: I'd love to travel to the west coast of the US. I would start in New Mexico to visit dear friends, continue through California and then see all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer in Oregon and Washington. Favorite Restaurant: We enjoy visiting friends in Vermont and often eat at Little Harry's in Rutland. Locally, Mama Mia's has amazing eggplant rollatini! Favorite Morning Beverage: I always start my day with a small glass of orange juice. On Weekends I like To: I enjoy walking trails in the area and in the summer you can often find me working in my gardens. Hidden Talent: I have lots of lovely plants inside my house and out. Favorite Movie: To name just a few... The Goodbye Girl, Shawshank Redemption, Fried Green Tomatoes, To Kill a Mockingbird. Book Recommendation: I loved reading the Little House on the Prairie books when I was in elementary school. I'm still an avid reader and would recommend either The Lincoln Highway or West With Giraffes. Go-To Snack or Dessert: My healthy snack is nuts and dried cranberries, and my guilty pleasure is any treat with dark chocolate. Person I’d Like to Meet: I'd like to meet Greta Thunberg, Joan Baez and Steven Colbert. What I love Most About Malta Avenue: Malta Avenue is absolutely filled with wonderful teachers! They are the pulse of the school and I'll miss them next year. The children are always so eager to experience life and they make me smile every day. I Became An Educator Because: My grandfather was a teacher and both of my parents, too. I was that kid in the neighborhood who was willing to babysit for 50 cents an hour and showed up with games and art supplies! I just love that young energy.
Breakfast and Lunch
