Note from the Principal:
We are super excited to start at 100% next week! With this advancement in our phase, I thank you in advance for continuing your routines at home and having patience with carline and bus dismissal times. We will continue to make an effort to space children out when walking the hallways and when exiting the building. We will continue to have zones in the cafeteria and at recess to minimize crossing of cohorts. Students will continue wearing masks in the school building but masks can be taken off when students are outside and 6 feet apart. Teachers will attempt to get outside to teach and instruct to allow for mask breaks and fresh air! Please encourage your children to bring a sweatshirt or a light jacket as we enter the cooler months!
Carline- Please be prepared that our carline will have more cars starting on Monday! There are tasks you can do to help us streamline the carline process.
- The coned path will continue throughout the entire school year.
- Please double stack as much as possible through the entire parking lot except for the area in front of the gymnasium for drop off and arrival.
- Please take turns merging upon arriving to the gymnasium area (coned area) for drop off and arrival.
- Have your child ready to depart from the car upon pulling up in front of the gym area where we have 9 cones. If you are an early arriver, please know that the bell rings at 9:40, so begin preparing at 9:38 with the backpack, lunch bag and mask.
- Please have your child exit the car on the driver side.
Bus dismissal- Our buses are triple routed so we do often have to wait for buses to arrive. Thank you for your patience. This week is already going better because the city has finished paving in front of the building! It looks good and we appreciate everyone's patience as we got through last week!
Your children are doing an amazing job in the building! Thank you for reinforcing the mask wearing, hand sanitizer and cleaning of hands. They really are doing GREAT!
Thank you again for your continued support of our teachers and staff. We appreciate you!

Hearing Screenings
Hearing Screenings for students learning in person:
During the week of October 12th, hearing screenings will be completed for Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and any new students who move to the HSE school district. Students will receive a slip of paper to send home to families if they passed. If they fail the screening, the student will be re-screened in 2-3 weeks and a referral will be sent home at that time if hearing continues to be a concern. Feel free to contact the school's Speech Language Pathologist via email if you have any questions regarding your child’s hearing: mcanter@hse.k12.in.us.
Do You Need Bus Transportation?
Requests for bus transportation should be sent to GES via email. When the bus assignment is scheduled and assigned we will notify you. Click here to request bus transportation.

Helping Families within Geist Elementary
Geist Elementary School has a tradition of offering assistance to its families in need. Traditionally we have accepted donations from staff, GES families and community organizations and distributed items to families within our school community who may need help getting through the winter break and holiday period. If you would like to DONATE or REQUEST assistance please refer to the Holiday Assistance link below.
Additionally this year we are participating in a program that will enable us to provide take-home snacks to students whose families would like to participate. Indy Snack Attack is a charitable, non-profit program offered to students in need. There is no cost to the participant or the school. The program is optional and participants can opt out anytime. For more information about Indy Snack Attack please visit www.indysnackattack.org. If you wish to sign up your student(s) for the program please refer to the GES Nutrition Club link below. If your student is already receiving the Snack Attack packs it is not necessary to sign up again.
