Who we are...
Loved by all our KG students and staff alike, it was a pleasure speaking to Ms Coba this week, and getting to know the lovely lady behind the big heart.
1. Name and position in AJAC?
Good afternoon to all! My name is Coba Burger, and I am the KG1 Grade Leader and KG1 Teacher.
2. Where are you from?
I come from South Africa and more precisely the most beautiful city, Cape Town.
3. Family?
I have a mum that still lives in Cape Town, and I also have four brothers that live in different provinces in South Africa.
4. Childhood nickname?
My childhood nickname was “Nonna".
5. Favourite food?
Oh, my mum's home cooking. Anything that comes from my mother's kitchen is absolutely delicious!
6. Hobbies?
I love reading. Just give me a book, and you will make me a happy person.
7. Favourite place in the UAE?
I believe that this location is loved by many, and it is Ras Al Khaimah because of the mountains and the sea.
8. Most memorable experience as a teacher so far?
I have the opportunity to work in many different countries and experience the culture and people.
9. Funniest moment in your teaching career?
It has to be when the students call me ‘Mum’ by accident instead of by my name.
10. The most challenging moment in your teaching career?
There must have been challenges along my teaching career, but luckily I remember the endearing moments. The moments when a child is able to use what they have learnt in class.
11. Childhood hero?
My dad.
12. If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be?
A baker!
