Miss Hansson's Room 8 Class

Apologies for my absence on Thursday and Friday I have been unwell. I should be well enough to return on Monday. Thank you for your understanding.

History Games Afternoon

Through history lessons we are exploring how childhood games have changed through the generations. A special thank you to history buffs Rowena, Jason and Libby for their excellent presentation of childhood games. On Wednesday the students collaborated with the children in Room 9 to rotate to different games stations and experience games from their different generations. These games included skipping, hopscotch, Simon says, Limbo, Hula Hoops and African singing and dancing!

Please join us in the Undercover Area on the 2 July 2013 to share in this unique gallery exhibition. Each child from Kindy to Year Sevenwill have a piece of their brilliant artwork on display!

Session 1: Years K – 3 from 5 – 6 pm

Session 2: Years 4 – 7 from 6 – 7 pm

Students will be given the opportunity to view the art gallery during the school day. They will be able to vote for their favourite piece of artwork as part of the ‘student’s choice’ award.

The P&C will be holding a sausage sizzle on the evening, so feel free to come along and have dinner as you peruse!

More History Buffs Needed

We are looking for grandparents to present a talk to the class about their childhoods. It would be helpful if they could cover particular aspects as their favourite toys, the games they played, family outings, whether they had household chores, behaviours expected of children and punishments given by the family.

This will fit in to our history focus of childhood toys, games and school and the changes over the generations. Please let me know via email if any grandparents are interested in coming in for an afternoon to talk to small groups of students on a particular aspect of what their childhood was like for their generation.

Head Lice

There has been a reported case of Head Lice in your child's classroom.

Please be comforted by the fact that Head Lice often infest clean, well-groomed hair. Would you please examine your child's hair and, if treatment is necessary, contact your Doctor or your local Pharmacy for advice.

A Fact Sheet and pamphlet on 'Prevention and Treatment of Head Lice' are also available from the School Office on request.
