A Note From Mrs. Mathe

Drop off on Tuesday and Thursdays

The Powell Honor Choir meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning. If you are joining our car line prior to 7:25 on Tuesday and Thurday morning, please start the car line at the fence line until the choir students have all entered the building.

If you are dropping your child off for choir and have younger siblings in your car, please remember to pull back around to the carpool line after dropping off your choir student. Those who sit in the front of the school after dropping their child off at 7:15am are making drop off for others difficult, and the choir parents are having to pull out to go around them. We are also having some children walking across the traffic, which is a safety concern.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Gifted and Talented Nominations

GT Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by parents and/or campus staff.

It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) scores have arrived before nominating their child as CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. All 2nd grade students will take the CogAT October 18 & 19. 2nd grade parents will be contacted if their child will be nominated for further testing in the spring.

Referrals will be accepted October 3- December 16, 2022. You may request a referral packet from Mrs. Nixon at snixon@conroeisd.net

Silent Auction

We have been busy preparing for our school carnival coming up on November 12th but we need your help!

We are in need of donations and/or items for our silent auction! These silent auction baskets will be used for our school carnival to raise money for our students and school. If you are able to help us, please consider donating or purchasing items for the baskets. If you would like to contribute funds to a themed basket, monetary donations can be sent to the Powell PTO through PayPal. A document with a link for PayPal donations will be sent out in the next few days.

Below you will find the basket themes for each grade level. We also listed just a few ideas of the items we would like to collect for the basket, but we would love to add any other items you think would fit the theme as well. You may contribute to any basket you wish.

We ask that all donations are submitted and purchased items are handed in to the front office by Tuesday, October 18th with a note stating that it is for the silent auction baskets.

Thank you for your help to make our school carnival silent auction a success!
