Digital Resource Spotlight- Soundzabound Royalty Free Music

Librarian Appraisal Role: Teacher - Instruction & Technology Integration

Soundzabound is a royalty free music library purchased by the Instructional Technology Department and maintained by Library Services. This resource offers a wide variety of music for use in podcasts, slideshows, videos, school news broadcasts, video yearbooks, digital storytelling, web design and more.

Tech Field Day

Librarian Appraisal Role: Campus Leader - Professional Knowledge & Skills

TCEA Area 20 is sponsoring Tech Field Day, Saturday, November 7 at Cole HS.

Sessions will address a variety of topics in the areas of Google Apps in Education, mobile learning, Web tools and Global Communications.

TALL Texans Leadership Institute

Librarian Appraisal Role: Campus Leader - Professional Knowledge & Skills

Online Application Form is now OPEN!

The TALL Texans Leadership Development Institute is one of the oldest and best-known library leadership seminars in the United States. Twenty-four mid-career individuals will be selected from all types of libraries to study advanced leadership and management topics at the Montserrat Retreat Center in Lake Dallas on June 12-16, 2016 (note that the Institute has been restored to four days, from 4 p.m. on June 12 to noon on June 16).

Applicants are required to have five years of work experience in any type of libraries. Applicants are also required to be members of the Texas Library Association by February 1, 2016. Financial aid is often available from TLA units, community organizations, and even vendors in the library field. Learn more about the Institute at

Free Online Virtual Conference for Librarians

Librarian Appraisal Role: Campus Leader - Professional Knowledge & Skills

The dates are set for the Library 2.015 Worldwide Virtual Conference. The fifth annual global conversation about the future of libraries is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The conference will be held entirely online and is free to attend. Everyone is invited to participate in this open forum designed to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among information professionals worldwide.


OverDrive News

Library Services DIIP Goal 7-1: Increase the use of OverDrive digital content

Thanks to all the great reading promotion occurring in September, NEISD had the 2nd highest statistics in the nation for schools last month! The school to "beat" is St. Vrain Valley School District in Colorado.

NEISD Google email for all secondary students

All secondary students are now able to use their NEISD Google email accounts to place holds and receive notifications in OverDrive. The OD email domain has been whitelisted.


Reminders & Updates

Colleen Bohrmann, Executive Director - Curriculum Compliance reported this:

"I was recently at Jackson MS and was so happy to see most of the students were carrying books. I stopped and spoke with one young man about what he was reading and he told me that this was his favorite in the series!" (paraphrased, but the gist)

Posting to Library Instagram Account on iPads

  1. Log into via Safari--bypass Lightspeed.
  2. THEN, log into the Instagram website--90-minute bypass/override for staff with AD credentials.
  3. Log into Instagram app and upload/post.
