Reminders and Updates

A short newsletter this week! Don't forget to send in your child's PARP slips and to keep an eye on the calendar.

The water fountain in Mrs. Pisani's classroom was continuously leaking and had to be shut off. Please send in a water bottle that we can fill in the cafeteria!

Colonial Day was added to the important dates below.

We have a shortage of pencils!! Please send in some new pencils for your child (sharpened at home, if possible).

Please return the permission slips for our field trip to the Charles R. Wood Theater with $8 BY THIS WEDNESDAY. We are still waiting for a handful.

Reading and Writing Update

We will continue to work on getting ready for the NYS tests this week. Last week we learned some strategies for answering multiple choice questions together as a class using 3rd grade passages.

This week, we are moving on to 4th grade stories and they will be working with partners. In addition, we will be practicing writing short response answers and essays.

We will be plugging away at their Writer's Workshop books and research. You should still be seeing this coming home nightly!

Fun with fractions

We are knee deep into our unit on fractions. We are using a great app on the ipads to help us better understand our lessons with fractions. The link below is the website that has the same fraction manipulatives. Students can use these to help them with their homework if they need it!
