OLLV Catholic School

Big picture

Be it known to all who enter here, that Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen, but ever present teacher in the classrooms, the model of its faculty, and the inspiration of its students.

Angel Note: August 27, 2021

"Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;

but the things that come out from within are what defile." MK 7:21-22

What are School-Wide Learning Expectations?

School-wide Learning Expectations are defined as, “what students should know, understand, value, and be able to do by graduation.” At Our Lady of Las Vegas our goal is to develop active faith-filled Catholics who are life-long learners, effective communicators, responsible decision makers, and culturally aware/global citizens.

We believe that through meaningful and authentic learning experiences over time, students will become highly developed in these areas. Learners will be able to exhibit a culmination of their learning in a real world context that has significant purpose and meaning for them and others (adapted from Fontana USD). Our instructional program is driven by these learning expectations.

Acquisition of these Learning Expectations drives the instructional program and fully supports the operations and goals of our school.

School-Wide Learning Expectation of The Week: Effective Communicators Who Speak Well

By the time our 8th-grade students graduate from Our Lady of Las Vegas, they should be able to speak in a highly focused, coherent, and organized manner, clearly addressing the intended audience.

This week we will focus on how to speak effectively by using complete sentences and making eye contact.

Reminder: Snack, Water, and Lunch

Please make sure you are sending your child(ren) with a snack, a water bottle, and cold-sack lunch each day (if you did not order hot lunch). A microwave for students is not available at this time, however, feel free to use a thermos to keep your child's lunch warm.

If your child is going to be absent, leaving early, or arriving late please email attendance@ollv.org or call the front office at 702-802-2323. You are welcome to communicate with the teacher as well, all emails sent to attendance@ollv.org will be forwarded to your child's teacher. Thank you in advance.

Harvest Festival Update

We are so pleased to announce the 38th Annual Our Lady of Las Vegas School Harvest Festival!

Due to ongoing COVID concerns and our commitment to the safety, health, and well-being of our students, staff, and entire OLLV Community, we are unfortunately unable to host a public event again this year.

However, we are so blessed to be able to move forward with some of the traditional Harvest Festival offerings for our school community. Our priority is to provide our students with traditional Harvest Festival FUN by having a Children’s Mini Harvest Festival on Friday, October 1, 2021 which will include games, a children’s raffle, food, jumpies, talent show and costume contest!

The 38th Annual Harvest Festival will also offer participation in a raffle for those 18+ with cash prizes. Raffle Tickets will go home with your child on Monday, August 30th. As a reminder, each child is responsible for selling at least 25 raffle tickets. In the coming weeks, there will be incentives for our top sellers!

OLLV Soccer Tryouts

We are pleased to announce that Soccer is back!

Please join us on the OLLV field for tryouts. Have your child bring a change of clothes, a soccer ball (if you have one), non-metal soccer cleats, shin guards, and a water bottle. Your child will also need to have a signed consent/liability waiver (linked below) in hand for tryouts. Unfortunately, if you have not turned in the entire liability waiver your child will be unable to try out. Please contact Coach Scarpati at jhill@ollv.org if you have any questions.

If you have questions regarding the winter uniform, please see page 24 of the Parent-Student Handbook.

Students will only be wearing their school sweaters for the picture as it is still quite warm outside.
