News from ESOL RE: WIDA Testing
We will begin ACCESS testing (English Proficiency) on February 5. This is a very IMPORTANT test for all of our ELs. All testing will take place on C Hall in Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Bailey's rooms. We ask that you please be respectful of this when going to and from special areas. If at all possible, a good option might be using the outside entrances by the PE room.
The testing window is open through mid March but our goal is to have all tests complete by end of February and back on a normal schedule before you all begin your next round of testing! Remember to gives lots of love and encouragement to our ELs during this time. It is NOT an easy test.
Progress Reports
De-Escalation and Disruptive Student Behaviors
De-Escalation Strategies and Disruptive Student Behavior courses have been added to your Safe Schools courses.
The due date is March 30. If you do not take the course by March 30, the course will expire on April 6.
Teacher Suggestion
Hand Washing
Please do not let hand sanitizer take the place of your students washing their hands. Students should wash hands before/ after lunch, after using restroom and after touching animals.
Handwashing is like a "do-it-yourself" vaccine—it involves five simple and effective steps (Wet, Lather, Scrub, Rinse, Dry) you can take to reduce the spread of diarrheal and respiratory illness so you can stay healthy. Regular handwashing, particularly before and after certain activities, is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others. It's quick, it's simple, and it can keep us all from getting sick. Handwashing is a win for everyone, except the germs.
· Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
· Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
· Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
· Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
· Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
Above Information from CDC
Handwashing will also help keep our students with food allergies safe. Please also consider allowing students to wash hands after specials- each day they are touching PE equipment, art supplies and musical instruments that are used daily by many students.
