Principal's Message

We made it through April and state testing and now we are ready to greet May and all that May has to bring! To start, next week is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! See the message below from our PTO.

We kick off our year-end MAP testing this next week which is very helpful to be able to measure students' progress. If we reach our MAP goal as a school, we will have the firetruck come so the students can have some fun playing in the water. That is scheduled for May 19 (in the afternoon, after the family picnic) with a rainout date of May 24. As always, please help encourage your students to put forth their best effort on their MAP testing!

From our PTO:

Teacher Appreciation Week is an important week that provides us the opportunity to celebrate our teachers and show them how much we appreciate everything they do for our kids each and every day! Not only does the PTO have a few goodies planned, but we have organized a week of surprises just for them! This year we would like to show that we have the GREatest teachers in the world. Here’s how it will work if you would like to participate:

• Monday (May 1st): Mexico City, Mexico — ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! Send in an item from your teacher’s Amazon Wish List.

• Tuesday (May 2nd): Paris, France - Bon Appétit. Send in your teacher’s favorite snack.

• Wednesday (May 3rd): London, England - It’s tea time! Send in a pack of thank you notes and have your student use one of the notes to write a ‘thank you’ to his/her teacher for all he/she does.

• Thursday (May 4th): Amsterdam, Netherlands- You help us grow and bloom. Surprise your child’s teacher with one of his/her favorite flowers.

• Friday (May 5th): Hong Kong, China - We are fortunate to have you. Choose anything you like for your child to give as one last thing to say ‘thank you’.

Not sure what your child’s teacher may need or want? Check out the Teacher Favorites lists on the PTO website.

Thank you so much for helping to make this week so special for our GREat teachers!

Field Day is coming up!

Hey parents, we would love to have you volunteer at our Field Day! We will have Field Day on Wednesday, May 17 with our rainout day being Thursday, May 18.

Field Day 2023

At the end of the scheduled activities (at 2:45), we will plan to have an all school tug-a-war and you may get to participate so please consider coming! We will have each class battling another class and the class winner will go against staff. If time allows, we can have the winner go against the parents so you won't want to miss!

*Participation will of course be voluntary and we will not hold the tug-a-war if it's too muddy.

From the Library

It’s hard to believe that we are ending April. The calendars are filling up. Here are a few important dates to know from the library.

May 8-12th is the last week for checking out library books. ALL books are due back in the library May 19th . Thanks to everyone who has worked hard at returning overdue books lately. It is so helpful as we prepare for end of the year inventory! We are going to be looking at Award winning books for all grades the rest of the year!

As always, thank you for your support of reading and of the library. Any questions or concerns please make sure to reach out.
