With 40 of the 170 total conference participants, Durham and Chapel Hill represented BIG! Not only did all the kids truly represent their cities and schools impressively, but they represented themselves and their ideas respectfully and boldly-not afraid to speak up when others did not.
Overall Durham represented 3 of the 10 conference officers, 4 of the 9 resolution authors and won 2 awards-one for model speaker and one for overall best country representation!

In ELA this week, students have been trying to ESCAPE! While using their test-taking strategies, in combination with their knowledge and teamwork,
students successfully "escaped" from Mrs. Ross' room after figuring out text structures, themes and meaning in reading passages.
Student engagement was had by ALL! Click the link below to see how it went!

Countdown to Showtime........1 WEEK AWAY!!!!
Just in case you missed last week's newsletter information, here are some friendly reminders:
Information, regarding "What to Wear," was sent via email on Tuesday, April 10th. There is no color scheme; however, we do ask that you follow the specific details regarding your student's dress attire. The following pictures are examples of "What to Wear."
As always, if you have any questions, please contact me: rharrison@kestrelheights.org OR Mrs. Daw: daw@kestrelheights.org.
Here's some additional information:
1. Attendance is mandatory and counts as a grade in Specials for all K-5 students.
Parents need to notify Ms. Harrison by April 15 if their student has a conflict. Conflicts must be in writing. If the conflict is excused by Ms. Goff, only then will make-up work be assigned.
2. Students are to wear Jazzy Professional Dress Attire (see pictures above)
3. Students in Dance team are in both shows.
4. Show Times are 5:30 pm for Grades K-2 and 6:45 pm for Grades 3-5.
5. STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE IN THEIR "HOLDING ROOMS" NO LATER THAN 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THEIR SHOWTIME!!!!
We are having a "Jazzin', Rockin" time, and I'm so excited for the families to see ALL of the hard work that we're putting into making this show be one of the best performances ever!!!!!
Hawks Sports
Baseball
A long 2nd inning in Tuesday's semi-final baseball match up will keep the Hawks from getting to the championship. The Hawks finished in 2nd place (regular season) in its first-ever MSC baseball season. The Hawks will look to bounce back next season and continue their growth.
Girls Soccer
The Lady Hawks are on their way to the conference championship today against Chatham Charter. The girls won on Tuesday 8-2 in the semi-final round. The Hawks have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 38 to 7 this year!
