HONORS SPANISH 3
Honors Spanish 3 and their teacher Senora Wyffels invited the preschool children (3 and 4 year olds) into their class to listen to the Spanish children's stories the high school students wrote. Together, they practiced writing and saying some Spanish words, completed a drawing with their high school student, and sang a song in Spanish.
Chandler Wolves showed great leadership and kindness to CHS’s little cubs on Wednesday!
ASU PARTNERS WITH CHS BAND
ASU’s School of Music and Digital Hybrid Lab are doing an experiment that involves students creating arrangements/compositions using the Program Abelton Live and an Abelton Push Controller. The Hybrid Lab and the ASU Consortium for Digital and Participatory Cultures is committed to integrating technology into traditional fine arts classes in a meaningful way. ASU is currently teaming up with the Symphonic Band to pilot the first wave of the unit.
AVID PARENT NIGHT
CHS showcased its AVID program last week by having AVID students, their elective teachers, and counselors share great information with parents at Parent Night. Students demonstrated great resources used in their AVID Elective classes, including a binder check, tutorials, and research done on colleges of interest. Counselors shared scholarship and financial aid information, and families walked away with lots of college freebies. A highlight of the program was welcoming Sarahi Chacon, 2011 CHS graduate and former AVID student, back to campus to share her experience earning a full ride scholarship to ASU and becoming a Sales District Leader for PEPSICO. View the AVID Flyer for more information on this excellent college readiness program.
ACADEMIC DECATHLON
CHS Academic Decathlon students competed at the Basha Invitational last Friday. At this event each student was judged on their interview and public speaking skills. Students were challenged to speak about their academic experiences and give prepared and impromptu speeches. CHS AcDec is coached by Mrs. Carol Gould.
