Registration-in-a-Nutshell Step 2:
We are now on to Step 2 of our registration instructions!
- In last month's Step 1, you and your student should have reviewed their transcript in Skyward and added any classes taken that earned high school credit into the left column of the 4-year planning guide.
2. You will now add the classes your student is currently taking this spring
semester of his/her 9th grade year.
Please see the EXAMPLE above:
*You can add the level of class taken; For example, your student may be enrolled in PAP English 1 and AP Human Geography.
See example:
3. Now, you can begin adding your student's 10th grade core classes.
See the EXAMPLE:
4. Continue browsing through the online course catalog to see classes available for your student to take: https://cdg.lisd.net/.
Please pay close attention to the following:
- Grade Restrictions (what grade-levels can take this class)
- Prerequisites (what class has to be successfully completed before taking this class)
- Co-requisites (what class should be taken at the same time as this class)
Next week, we will fill in the 4 elective classes on the 4-year planning guide that your student will take in 10th grade.
*It may be helpful to "backwards plan" for students wanting to take specific classes their junior and senior year; For example, a student wanting to take Digital Electronics will need to successfully complete the following pre-requisites: Algebra 1 and Geometry. Successful completion of Physics is recommended.
A student interested in taking Engineering Math for example, will need to successfully complete
Algebra 2.
We hope this step-by-step process is helpful as you are navigating through the registration process.
Stay tuned for next week's Step 3: Registration-in-a-Nutshell!
Have a wonderful week!
