Dodge Sports, by Ashley Higuera Gutierrez, Cailela Romero, and Asli Osman
Dodge Bulldogs have officially finished their first season. Boys' basketball was coached by Mr. Sonier and girls' volleyball by Mrs. Barr. The boys' basketball team won 11 out of 12 games. They did unfortunately lose the championship. The basketball coach, Mr. Sonier, said that their hardest team to play was Mansfeld. He also said, “What was so great about this year's team was that everyone contributed and that it was never just one person it was always changing.” Overall, this year we had an amazing team who played their hardest and tried their best.
We asked some of the players on both teams to answer some questions. Isaac Teasley on the boy's basketball team said that the hardest team to play was Pistor. We also asked, “Would you say you would want to go pro?” Teasley said that if he works hard enough, he might, but there is a low chance.
Another basketball player, Joseph, gave some advice for future basketball players, “Have fun and trust your teammates."
What was your inspiration? “I got inspired to play basketball in the fifth grade because of my friends and family.” Romeo said.
Volleyball player Adana said that to get your serves and plays to be so good is to practice. She also plans to play volleyball in high school and next year.
Another great player, Cailela, said that this season was one of the best and that she enjoyed playing with her team this year. She also commented that the hardest team to play was Mary Bell McCorkle.

The PBIS Store, by Tara Pym

The PBIS Store is open on Tuesdays for ALL grades, it is open after school only currently. The PBIS Store offers a large assortment of snacks and essentials to help you get through your day. These items can range from pencils, notebooks, drawstring bags, and water bottles to chips, Chips Ahoy cookies, Oreos, gummies, and Mexican candy! Along with that, hopefully soon in the future you can also exchange Dodge Bucks for time with the foosball tables or ping pong tables in the courtyard.
Meet Your President and Vice President!
Thank you to all that voted for Caleb and Ryder for Student Council office! Thanks to all of you, we are now president and vice president of Ida Flood Dodge Traditional Magnet Middle School! We will work hard to get what you all want and need. To all the 6th graders, we hope to make this year a great year to start at Dodge. To the 7th graders, we hope to make this year better than the last. And to the 8th graders, we hope to make your last year at Dodge (or first if you are new) a great one!
Since you’ve voted me (Caleb Hymson) into office as president, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself. I like to run cross country and track, and I like to play soccer. My favorite color is green, and my favorite movie is Episode III of Star Wars. The best video game is Minecraft, and you cannot change my mind. Social Studies and Math are the best subjects in my opinion. And most importantly, I am SO happy that you guys trust me and voted me in as president!
Hello, I’m Ryder your new vice president. I want to thank all of you who voted for us. We couldn’t have done it without you. I am a very big baseball fan; my favorite team is the Toronto Blue Jays. My favorite color is blue, I love school, and all of my core classes are honors or algebra. I also have 4 dogs. I am thankful for this wonderful opportunity to serve everyone as vice president. And I promise you that we will do the best we can do. I am usually walking around the field at lunch, so feel free to ask me any questions.
Our overall goal is to improve the campus with new things, fixing up old things, and doing fun events. To fund these, we will do fundraisers throughout the year. Some new things we would like to get are sports equipment, such as new balls, basketball nets, and a hand pump. We could also get more seating outside along with misters. We would also like to get air fresheners in the restrooms. We could also improve the bathrooms by cleaning up the graffiti. Some ways we could improve the fields are by getting more trash cans so there is not as much litter. Repainting the tables could also be something we could do as president and vice president.
