February 2023 - John Dewey High School
A Message from Your Principal
To the John Dewey family
This month will have us full! Full of celebrations from Respect for All Week, Valentine's day, Paint and Sip, Spirit Week, Pep Rally and more. It will also be full of exploration. We will have time this month to explore Black History. We will examine figures whose lives and work epitomize what commitment and perseverance truly produce. The characteristics demonstrated through various people's work in history shows us why commitment to self and others is important for the continued development of society.
We had the tremendous opportunity on January 10th to welcome our Chancellor, David Banks. He immediately understood the culture and goals of Dewey. He enjoyed experiencing our Academy's demonstrations and insightful conversations with our students. This day is a true testament to every stakeholder's commitment to this community. It is obvious to all who see us that we are committed to our future goals, shared vision, and how we persevere together every day.
During the month of February, take the time to commit, learn, grow and love. Be sure to stay engaged with all that is happening by exploring the walls in the halls and using the QR codes to interact with one another. Be sure to sign the Pledge "Love Not Hate."
In gratitude,
Heather Adelle
Principal

JDHS Welcomes Chancellor David C. Banks!
On January 10th, Mr. Banks and his team visited our school to discuss our career-related education programs and pathways, which provide students with career-connected learning opportunities. Providing students with the skills necessary to thrive in today's – and tomorrow's – workforce involves helping them discover their interests, plan for their future, and learn to develop their skills. We are so proud of our amazing students and staff for sharing their greatness with all of Brooklyn. So much fun showcasing our special school. Check out the news clip below from Channel 12 News!
