Happy October
The big news last week was Governor Newsom's announcement that all public and private California students must be vaccinated once the vaccine is fully authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for each respective age group. You can read details by clicking here. Because of its location on the campus of Moorpark College, HSMC has a head start on this mandate with over 90% of our students either fully vaccinated or on their way to being so. Our first priority is the safety of the entire HSMC community, if you have any questions regarding this mandate or any other safety measure, please contact the office.
Our movie night was a success with many students and family members enjoying an evening together socializing, snacking and occasionally watching the movie.
Please consider volunteering to be on the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) committee. We need one person to serve as the HSMC representative and as many as are interested to attend the meetings. The LCAP is the plan the district has to spend the money allocated by the state. Attendance at the meetings is an excellent way to find out how Moorpark Unified School District prioritizes goals and where it spends money.
October is a busy month with many activities on campus culminating with our spirit week during the last week of the month.
Don't forget to attend our Chipotle fundraiser this Wednesday. It will be a great time to have someone else do the cooking for you.
Have a wonderful week!

News From The Office
This is a reminder to please ensure students complete the Moorpark College At Home Pre-Screening at home BEFORE arriving on campus. Rushing through the questionnaire while checking in on site could result in an unqualified red Campus Pass. Receiving a red campus pass means the student is not allowed on site at all and could result in a student being sent home for the day.
If the student made a mistake on the questionnaire that resulted in a red Campus Pass, they will need to call the Moorpark College Health Center at 805-378-1413 to clear it up. This could take time and will likely result in the student being late to class or being sent home by a Moorpark College Health Center Nurse.
If the student is exhibiting any symptom listed on the questionnaire, regardless of whether it is COVID-19 related or not, it is recommended the student remain home until they are fully recovered and receive a green or blue pass after completing the At Home Pre-Screening the following day.
A parent/guardian must call our main office at 805-378-6312 to report the absence if the student will be out for the day due to illness to ensure they do not receive the automated attendance phone call and email from our MUSD attendance alert system. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this process or if your student needs assistance navigating their myVCCCD app and we hope you are having a wonderful afternoon!
