Principal's Corner
Dear Lake Forest High School Community,
Happy Fri-YAY! It's been another eventful week here at Lake Forest High School, with several exciting events that further proved Lake Forest High School is the place to be. Our Boys Swim and Dive and one of our Wrestling athletes, Annika Cottam, headed to state today, and we couldn't be prouder! Congratulations to all of them!
Last night was the kickoff of the LFHS Talent Show 2023, and I was amazed by the sheer talent of our students. Trombones, short films, grunge music (I think it is still called that?), The Devil Went Down to Georgia, dancing (maybe even Dirty Dancing) comedy skits and an 80s theme? What more could we ask for? The show was a true reflection of the diverse interests and passions of our Scouts, and it was so much fun to see them in action!
I also want to give a shout-out to our ELS Basketball Team for their impressive performance against New Trier’s Trevians. It was a close game, and our students showed great spirit and support for their fellow Scouts–our competition gym was on fire! Our Girls Basketball Team finished their impressive season on Tuesday against a talented Deerfield High School, and our Boys Basketball Team will be playing in the Regional Championship game tonight–we expect a busy building with both the basketball game and talent show, so we encourage everyone to carpool if possible to help alleviate any parking concerns! Please refer to the map below provided by our security team to help guide you to the appropriate parking area for your event.
As always, we're grateful for the continued support of our families, faculty, and staff. Have a wonderful weekend–and GO SCOUTS!
All the best,
Erin

D115 Referendum Information
Ask the Chief Operating Officer!
Do you have questions about the D115 Referendum? Dr. Jennifer Hermes has the answers! Hear two answers to your questions about the proposal amount and tax rate below. Stay tuned for more!
The Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education is pursuing a $105.7M referendum on the April 4, 2023 Lake County election ballot. District 115 seeks to protect and improve its 88-year-old historic, landmark community high school by addressing the building’s most pressing capital facility needs. The proposed improvements would help create a healthier, safer, and more secure school while extending the building’s useful life, reduce costly and disruptive emergency repairs, enhance ADA accessibility, improve energy efficiency, and strengthen the District’s ability to provide continued excellence in education.
Families of Future Scouts - Save the Date for March 6!
D115 invites all elementary and middle school parents from District 67 schools, District 65 schools, Lake Forest Country Day School, St. Mary’s School, and any other feeder schools in the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff communities to join us on Monday, March 6 at 5:00 pm at Lake Forest High School (1285 N. McKinley Rd. Lake Forest, IL) for a referendum informational session with Superintendent, Dr. Matthew L. Montgomery, and his team. This session is designed for parents and guardians of future Lake Forest High School students.
Tours by current LFHS students and staff will be provided!

Calendario de Exámenes AP Del College Board 2023
Final Deadlines:
Registration & Payment:
March 1st is the final deadline to purchase your AP Exam. Please complete payment through REVTRAK on the LFHS website: https://lakeforest.revtrak.net/ Select AP Exams; choose the exam of your choice on the left side of your screen and that will bring you to the payment page.
Cancellation of Exam & Refunds:
An exam that has been paid for and canceled after 11/6/22 will incur a $40 restocking fee as charged by The College Board.
Partial refunds will not be available after 3/1/23.
If you need to cancel an exam, please contact Mrs. LaVitola so College Board materials can be removed from the students account.
Fee Reduction:
The College Board offers a fee reduction for eligible students with financial need. Please contact Mrs. LaVitola for further details.
Test Accommodations:
Students with an IEP or 504 Plan may be eligible for accommodations on AP Exams. In order to receive accommodations on AP Exams, a student must be approved by the College Board Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD). For students that do not already have accommodations in place, the deadline for applying for accommodations to the College Board is January 18, 2023. Please contact the appropriate administrator for questions and the application process: for IEP Students - Joey Kowalik, Director of Special Education, jkowalik@lfschools.net and for 504 Students - John Maher, Director of Student Services, jmaher@lfschools.net.
If a student is approved for testing accommodations by The College Board and chooses not to use them, a parent must notify Mrs. La Vitola, dlavitola@lfschools.net, by March 1, 2023. Otherwise, students will be placed in the appropriate testing room as indicated on their approved accommodation documents.
Exam Scheduling Conflicts:
Occasionally, a student wants to take two AP Exams scheduled for the same time period. In such cases, the College Board will allow one of the exams to be taken during the late testing period (May 17-May 19) for no additional cost.
If a student is ill and misses an exam, a late exam can be ordered. The College Board will approve late testing for personal conflicts upon review. If the conflict is approved, the College Board charges an additional $40 for each make-up exam.
For both situations, please contact Mrs. La Vitola for scheduling.
Important Deadlines:
August - September 2022: Sign into your College Board account and join your AP Classroom.
September 26 - November 6: Pay for your AP Exam(s) through https://lakeforest.revtrak.net/ap-exams/#/list on the Lake Forest High School website to avoid a $40 late fee.
January 2023: Second semester only course students need to sign into their College Board account and join their appropriate AP Classroom.
January 18, 2023: Deadline to apply and submit ALL paperwork for College Board Accommodations.
March 1, 2023: Deadline to make all changes to AP Registration; order an exam with a $40 late fee; cancel an exam for partial refund.
March 1, 2023: Notify Mrs. La Vitola if you wish to waive approved College Board testing accommodations.
Test Day Instructions:

They will be distributed to teachers to share with their class, as well as posted in the Commons by student ID number for students to reference. Students who arrive after the test room has been seated and the reading has begun will not be able to take the exam.

Project Safe Prom
The Junior Class and the APT have been excitedly planning the "Dancing in the Moonlight" traditional Prom at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare for Saturday, May 6th since the beginning of the school year. Now it is around the corner!
Project Safe Prom officially launched last week and we need your support. Did you know the LFHS Prom is completely self-sustaining and we rely solely on ticket sales, junior class fundraising and your generosity? Your donations will help fund a truly magical experience for our LFHS students. Each ticket will remain $95 per person, which includes plated dinner, entertainment, transportation, and security. However, the actual cost to host prom far exceeds the ticket price. We are looking to our generous community to help raise $35,000 to underwrite various costs associated with this event, such as the transportation and security.
Any contribution you are able to make is tax deductible and greatly appreciated! Click the link or scan the QR code below to get started. THANK YOU!
Spring Break Date Correction
There was a misprint in a prior communication about our Spring break dates. Our Spring break begins on Friday, March 24th through March 31st. School resumes on April 3, 2023
