Help Us Grow!

We are looking for feedback from YOU about your family's experience at Hillcrest School. Please take some time between now and February 17th to respond to THIS survey. After that time, we will use the data to develop an action plan for areas of improvement. We are always looking for ways to improve our school and your input is such an important part of that process. Thank you!

Read-A-Thon Update

January Read-a-Thon results are in! This month's winning class is Mrs. Schielfelbein's kinders! Enjoy your Dairy Queen treat! Coming in a close second, were Mrs. Berg's first graders and Ms. Lauer's second graders. Keep up the good work and remember to keep reading this month to earn your Great America ticket!!!

We are in need of a working clothes washing machine at Hillcrest. You may not know that we had a washer and dryer in Mr. Molloy and Ms. Llanas' office. The dryer still works but the washer has used up it's life. These are used for many things at Hillcrest (including washing kids clothes, jackets, etc.). If you have or know someone who has a working washer that they would like to donate to Hillcrest, we would appreciate it very much. Mrs. Perez is able to provide a receipt for the donation, if you would like to use the donation as a tax deduction.

Art News

It's Doodle4Google time! Students are learning about Google's annual contest in art class. If your child comes home with a Doodle4Google drawing please help them fill out the top of the form and sign if you agree to having it submitted and I will mail them in this March. Find out more by clicking this link HERE

Students in grades 4 & 5 have started art portfolios using the adobe app Spark Post. This new platform will make a nice transition to middle school where students are already learning to use the app!

Thank you to the 2nd and 3rd graders for their beautiful work creating our flock mural outside the gym coordinating with the music concert theme Wings To Fly. Students were inspired by muralist and video artist in residence Kelsey Montague. If you took photos at the concert please share them with us by tagging me on instagram @art.with.ms.bye using the hashtag #whatliftsyouschools & tag @KelseyMontague:)

Safe Arrival - Available Now!

Hillcrest is now fully up and running with the district's new attendance reporting system, Safe Arrival. Safe Arrival allows you to report an absence or appointment at any time from your phone. Our attendance line is still available for reporting absences but we encourage you to give Safe Arrival a try. We know you will find it to be an easy to use system that is available at times that work for YOU!

1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.

2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/

3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school. There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.
