TUSD Family Resource Centers
January 2024
Family Resource Center services are available to TUSD students and their families, free of charge. Please call the center to register for classes. Childcare is available to TUSD students and siblings for most classes. Please inform staff of the need for childcare when you register. Include the number of children, ages, and any special needs. Interpreter services are available. Please inform staff of the need for an interpreter when you register. Please register at least two weeks in advance if interpreter services are needed.

5 Protective Factors for Strengthening Families- Presented by the Children's Advocacy Center of Southern AZ (for adults)
Please join us for a 3-week series of engaging and interactive workshops for parents and caregivers of children of all ages. Learn the five protective factors for strengthening families and building family resiliency to prevent child maltreatment. We will provide time for encouragement, support, and growth. Becoming Financially Fit- Presented by Family Housing Resources (for adults)
This class will be presented in Spanish.
El Programa de Fundamentos Financieros es un programa "GRATIS PARA USTED" desarrollado para Family Housing Resources Inc. para ayudarlo a construir una base sólida de educación financiera, hacer crecer su patrimonio y lograr la libertad financiera. Incluye un curso de 8 sesiones que cubrirá presupuestos, impuestos, préstamos y más. Después del curso, te pondremos en contacto con un mentor experto para que te ayude a crear un plan para alcanzar tus objetivos financieros. Se requiere una sesión de orientación. Este curso se llevará a cabo en persona en el Centro de Recursos Familiares Catalina sin costo alguno para usted, y todos los participantes que completen el programa con éxito pueden ser elegibles para recibir hasta $200.00. Computer Class & Homework Help (for adult & children)
Do you need help learning basic computer skills? We can help! A TUSD certified instructor will be available to provide support with basic computer skills and online forms, applications, and programs. The Family Resource Centers have partnered with Literacy Connects to provide free Adult English classes for parents, guardians, or caregivers of TUSD registered students. Familia Adelante- Presented by Amistades (for parents/guardians and youth 10-14)
The Familia Adelante Program targets youth 10-14 years old, and their parents/guardians through a two-generational approach. Familia Adelante is a dynamic, culturally responsive education-community prevention program to address the rising rates of substance abuse, acculturation trauma, and behavioral health problems. The first goal is to increase parental and youth awareness by increasing education about the devastating risks and public health problems caused by the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The second goal of the program is to increase parent and youth collaboration opportunities for prosocial involvement in the community. Program activities focus on improving communication, stress management, substance abuse education, HIV/AIDS education, suicide and bullying education, and enhanced study skills for youth. Familia Adelante decreases the barriers youth, and their parents face while increasing healthy development, academic success, and overall familial bond. The program provides parents and youth opportunities to improve family cohesion, involvement, and communication. Guiding Good Choices- Presented by the Children's Advocacy Center of Southern AZ (for adults)
Guiding Good Choices (GGC) gives families information and tools that work to protect preteens and teens from the inevitable risks they encounter as they become more independent. Families will learn ways to build or maintain lasting relationships. At the end of each session, participants learn how to hold a family meeting to share lessons learned or plan some fun family time. This regular time together builds bonds, promotes health, and helps GGC skills become a part of family life.

Health Insurance Resources- Presented by The University of Arizona Center for Rural Health (for adults)
The University of Arizona Center for Rural Health has Certified Navigators to answer questions and help you enroll in health insurance. They are available for group presentations and to assist when you experience a qualifying life event or Special Enrollment Period (SEP). Assistance is FREE of charge and available in English /Spanish! If you qualify for an SEP, you may have 60 days before or 60 days after the event to enroll in a Marketplace plan. Medicaid/CHIP is open at any time.

Kith & Kin Project- Presented by Candelen (for adults)
Candelen offers one of the most extensive support programs for family (kin), friend, and neighbor (kith) childcare, which is one of the country’s most common forms of caregiving. It usually includes relatives, friends, neighbors, and other adults caring for children in their home. Stewards of Children- Presented by the Children's Advocacy Center of Southern AZ (for adults)
A training for all parents, caregivers, and professionals who want to learn more about how to prevent, recognize, and react to child sexual abuse.
