Field Day 2022!

This week Field Day returned to Beck Elementary! Mr. Chapp organized another fun day for all Beck students with all sorts of physical challenges and activities! A big thanks to our Beck Family Volunteers for supplying three large bounce-houses and bounce-obstacle courses for the day - AND popsicles to cool off with! And a big thank you to all the volunteers who came to spend the morning or afternoon with us and man the stations for students! Even Michigan weather cooperated and supplied a nice cool mostly-sunny day!

Beck Walking Club

Students have been utilizing the walking track this year and our new EZScanner system. Each student has a lanyard with their own QR Code so they can track their laps. Students who walk 8 laps can add a 'toe token' to their lanyard. Students have enjoyed adding all their tokens to their lanyards. Students who hit '20 miles' added a dog tag with "Walking Club" on it.

Classrooms have been tracking their laps (miles walked) and competing with each other. The challenge was to see which class(es) could walk 500 miles total! This week, Mr. Barthelmeh's 5th grade class was the first to hit 500 miles! They earned a 'cool treat' for their efforts! Classes have until next Tuesday, June 7 to get their laps (and miles) in.

Report Cards are Coming!

During June, Beck Centennial will distribute report cards electronically. The fourth marking period grades will be sent electronically to families at the end of the day on Monday, June 20, 2022.

To receive the report cards, parents will need to have a secure PowerSchool account. Parents who do not have access to a PowerSchool account will need to register for one prior to Tuesday, June 14, 2022. The report cards will then be automatically e-mailed to the address that is used to register the PowerSchool account. If you already have a PowerSchool account, you do not need to take any further action.

Reminders About Student Dress Code

Student Dress Code

As the weather warms up, the clothing gets shorter! Please remind your students that what fit last year, may not provide enough 'coverage' this year! Girls' shirts that expose the midsection are a fashion craze, but are not school-appropriate! Girls will be issued a clothes closet t-shirt if they arrive at school with inappropriate clothing.

Below is the Dress and Grooming section from the UCS Student Handbook:

Morning Drop Offs

Please remember to pull your car all the way forward when dropping students off in the morning. Cars should NOT STOP along the south sidewalk. Cars that stop along the sidewalk at the south driveway are causing a hazard to cars driving into the parking lot and turning in off Hayes Road.

Students should ONLY get out of cars along the front sidewalk area. Just like at pick up, pull as far forward as the car in front of you, unload your passengers, then pull into passing lane to continue on.

Students should be able to walk to their classroom doors from wherever they're droppd off - especially now that weather is getting nicer.
