Notes From Our Principals

Hello to our students and families of 21st Century Cyber Charter School,

We hope that all of you are staying healthy, safe and are quarantining to stay away from infection from Covid -19. We realize that this, of course, was an unforeseeable event and we are grateful to be working with a school that goes above and beyond to make changes when needed to continue to provide our students with an amazing educational program!

Thank you all for your patience as we are embracing these changes, we appreciate each and every one of you.

As you may have heard, both the 2019-2020 Keystone Testing and PSSA Testings have been canceled due to the pandemic. As of now, we have canceled all school events through mid May. We will update students and families as the time comes whether or not other events will be canceled or moved to online.

In these uncertain times, we would like to provide a reminder to keep students on track for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. Let’s focus on what is in front of us, not what is behind us.

Don’t forget these strategies for success:

1. Keep a routine - Even if other aspects in your life have changed because of Covid-19, keep a routine to keep yourself in check! Make sure you set an alarm to get up, eat breakfast, do your school work, and schedule in your breaks!

2. We are here for you! - Your teachers are available to you in the virtual office - this has not

changed! Come to us for whatever you need.

3. Stay grounded - it’s easy to get swept up in everything that’s going on, in fact, it’s hard

not to! But, make sure you’re getting your information from reputable sources that are

trustworthy.

iPad Updates

As our students know so well, learning can happen anywhere! I've had fun these last few days using my imagination to turn everyday objects around my house into something creative and fun! Using Markup in the Photos app (available on both your iPad and computer), I took a pineapple from my kitchen island to an actual island and turned my house plant into a jungle scene!

To access Markup in the Photos app, tap on Edit and then tap the circle with the three dots. Tap on Markup to access drawing tools, shapes, and text to edit your photos.

We'd love to see your creations! Email them to lmichener@21cccs.org for a chance to be featured on our social media!

Special Education

ESY vs. Summer School

ESY services are not the same thing as Summer School. They’re specialized instruction or related services that are part of a students IEP. The services are individualized to help each child maintain their skills. Summer school is academic courses taken as part of the regular education curriculum. These classes are reflected on your student's transcript. Watch this video for more information on ESY vs. Summer School.

Upcoming Events

Community Outreach

We appreciate your attendance at our many community outreach events throughout this school year! We are currently in uncharted territory with COVID-19 concerns. At this time, we have no community outreach events planned for the month of April. We are looking forward to future events and appreciate your patience.

21CCCS Community Feedback Forums

The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, Brian Cote, will be holding a monthly 21CCCS Community Feedback Forum for both parents and students. This will be an opportunity to get to know Brian, and learn about the process of the school’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Parents and students are encouraged to share information on things that have been going well for our school, as well as ideas/suggestions to move our school forward. This forum will not be a question/answer session. If parents or students have questions during the forum, our staff will work to respond to those questions in our monthly Flex Gazette.

Past Events

National Honor Society and Junior National Honor Society

This year, 21CCCS inducted 13 National Honor Society and 14 National Junior Honor Society members. These students have shown exemplary scholarship, leadership, community service, and character, which are the pillars of membership to this society. All current and new members should be extremely proud of their excellence, and we look forward to potential members joining the society in the ‘20-’21 school year. We thank Mrs. Reid and Mrs. Gibson for their leadership and sponsorship with our NHS and NJHS members.

In March, many inductees and current members were able to attend an induction ceremony in Murrysville, PA. The induction ceremony in West Chester, PA is currently postponed and we will make every effort to reschedule this event.

Junior/Senior Social

On Saturday, March 7th, several juniors and seniors attended a prom social at our West Chester and Murrysville offices. The afternoon consisted of senior cap and prom decorating, video games, movies, and food for all! Students enjoyed the opportunity to interact with one another before prom and to partake in some fun activities. Special thank you to all teachers who attended this event and to Ms. Brittany Trotter, Mrs. Lauren Douglas, and Mr. Tim Booth for leading the event.
