Giesinger Scholastic Book Fair - This Week!
Dear Parents and Families:
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair! This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. We will have a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.
Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:
· Set the example. Let children see you read.
· Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep
up with changing tastes and reading skills.
· Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books
to read.
*Book Fair dates: October 25-29, 2021.
*Special Event: After school shopping with adults Tues. 3-4pm
*Book Fair will close at Noon on Friday, Oct. 29th.

Lunch visitors may sign up for "picnic" style lunches on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays beginning October 6th. With Giesinger Elementary at 120% capacity, our parents will picnic on our picnic tables. Please make sure you sign up under the the correct grade level and date. We ask that you have no more than 2 visitors per student. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please call the front office and we will work with you. When signing up for two visitors, please sign each person up in a separate slot. We need to limit visitors to 10 adults total per grade level per day. We also ask that you sign up once per 3 week period so that every parent has an opportunity to sign up.

A Message from Mrs. Ralston
Starting November 29th, we will ask that parents/guardians do not park on White Oak Blvd between the entrance of our school and the bus drive entrance. There are "Do No Park" signs posted at our school entrance and bus drive however it has been difficult to enforce with the amount of cars/golf carts parking on the street. We moved our "walker" exit from the front of our school to the side gate (along White Oak Blvd) last year because we could not start moving the car line until all walkers cleared. With over 100 students dismissing at "walkers", it is safer to start on White Oak Blvd for the students who truly walk home. Thank you for your support as we make this change after Thanksgiving Break. As always, please drive safely during school arrival and dismissal times.
Sincerely,
Melissa Ralston,
Principal
An Update from our Counselor, Mrs. Barton (click on the link below)
An Update from Nurse Corbit
Goodbye Summer & Hello Fall!
We are so thankful that Covid rates have dropped to a low level and most of our campus is really healthy! We still have mosquitoes on the playground, so remember to spray those arms and legs before school if your little one is getting bit! Also, a little known fact is that cough drops are considered a medicine here in CISD, so we ask that if your child needs them, please check them into the Clinic and sign a permission form. Vision and Hearing screening will begin for 3rd graders next week. If your child has a referral sent home, please contact the clinic with questions and recommendations.
Take Care! Nurse Corbit and Ms. Danielle.
