Ripley Geocaching Club
an introduction to your new family activity!
What is Geocaching?
Imagine a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. Geocachers hide objects in places that can be found using GPS coordinates. They pinpoint the GPS location and put it online.
Anyone with a GPS unit (including phone GPSs) can look for geocaches. They are hiden around the planet and can be found in all kinds of places, including nature centers, hiking trails, and even cementaries. As you look for different geocaches you are sure to find lots of interesting things outdoors.
The Ripley Geocaching club will give you an introduction to this fun filled pastime.
We will host 4 two hour family geocaching sessions, and one 4 hour session ending in a family picnic. Our first meeting will be May 31st, 2014. The club will have 3 GPS units to borrow (any smartphone GPS may be used). The first 8 families that sign up will recieve a Geocaching Kit (which includes a trackable tag, lanyard, ammo can, pencils and swag).
SIgn up now by filling in the form on this flyer online or print and return the form to Mrs. Kondrick.
