What's the Buzz!

Hear From the Administrators

Greetings Sanford Middle School Families & Friends,

It's hard to believe, but the 1st Quarter is in the books and we're already into the second week of the 2nd Quarter! Time is going by fast for sure. The students and staff are doing great things each and everyday at SMS. We are filled with pride on a daily basis every time we walk our hallways, visit classrooms, and spend time with our students. November is shaping up to be another busy month at Sanford.

As we reflect on the month of November, the words thankfulness and gratitude seem to become a focus. We are grateful for the opportunity to prepare our students for life successes. We are thankful for being partners with our parents to continue to mold and develop our next generation. Please help spread the value of education and daily learning. We still have a long way to go. It is not just about passing a state assessment. It is about ensuring that our students meet their social, emotional, physical, and mental goals as well. These middle years can be very difficult for our students, but with the guidance of their parents, teachers, and other members of the community, our kids are going to make it.

Thank you to all of our Veterans that have sacrificed their time and energy to protect our freedoms we get to enjoy. We are able to live freely in this country because of you. Happy Veterans Day…SMS salutes you!

Please take a few minutes to read our monthly newsletter. Have a wonderful November and as always…

National Gratitude Month in November encourages us to embrace the power of gratitude. Everything in our lives has the ability to improve when we are grateful. Research has shown that gratitude can enhance our moods, decrease stress, and drastically improve our overall level of health and wellbeing.

Celebrating the month can be done in several ways.

  • Start a gratitude journal. Write about someone or something you’re thankful for every day. You’ll find your appreciation for those around you grows deeper and fonder the longer you keep it. When you read back on what you’ve written, you’ll be able to reflect on the relationships and their accomplishments.
  • Share your gratitude with others. Letting someone know you’re grateful for their care, service, or friendship often lifts their spirits or lifts a burden.
  • Show your appreciation by giving back to your community, neighborhood, or favorite organization.

Use #NationalGratitudeMonth to post on social media.
