BARBER BULLETIN
Week of January 29-February 2, 2018
BLACK HISTORY MONTH - Details from the Events Action Team
Pontiac will celebrate Black History Month school-wide. Each grade level will be responsible for an individual African American or a group (performance, research project, play or whatever your grade level decides to do). Be sure to invite your parents or share it digitally.
The Events Action Team is also requesting that each classroom door be decorated to honor influential African Americans throughout history. Soon, a Google Document link, will be sent out to specify who will be displayed on your door and your grade level tribute. Please make sure that each member of your grade level displays a different African American and that your display is up by Friday, February 9th.
Recognizing Black History Month is both a district and state expectation. Thank you for celebrating the contributions of African Americans, both past and present!
TEAM COLLABORATION ON MONDAY
Additionally, the district is requiring that all certified staff complete the Bright Bytes technology survey. Please complete this survey before you leave on Monday afternoon. Your students will take the survey during computer lab.
A message from our SRO regarding staff parking lot:
Please seek first to understand and then to be understood when reading this. There are a few changes that will be implemented in the teacher parking lot (car rider side).
1. There are 2 lot entrances for that parking lot. This has changed; now there is only 1, the first one. There is now only one way in and one way out. This is for the safety of everyone. Let's synergize!
2. If you have a red tag hanging in your car, thank you. If you do not have a red tag and need a replacement please see Legrand or Watson. This needs to hang in your vehicle while on campus. . This is for all staff who parks on PE campus.
3. Begin with the end in mind and don't move or go around the cones. Lets lead by example. This can cause confusion and it doesn't set a good example for the parents watching you.
4. You ARE NOT allowed to park in front of the loading docks. There is a sign that says no parking. You can be towed for blocking this entrance at your expense.
If you have any issues or if something wasn't clear please let Deputy Proctor know - her door is always open.
CHIHULY Art is coming to Pontiac!
Chihuly has created beautiful art over the course of the last 5 decades. He draws inspiration from the world around him, pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.
Take a moment to explore his art here: https://www.chihuly.com/work
Each piece is created by hand by blowing glass. Isn't it beautiful?
Our students are going to begin creating models of his art this semester!
And, if this is of interest to you, his work will be displayed in an exhibit later this year at the Biltmore in Asheville? Save the Date: May 19 for a tentative staff trip that we are planning for a staff getaway!
