September Tech Tips from Mel

DyKnow and Google Classroom

Remember: In DyKnow, if a teacher forgets to stop monitoring the period before your class, all you have to do is log into DyKnow and start monitoring. That way you can take over the students who are still being monitored by the teacher who forgot to stop monitoring.

Recommendation: Log into DyKnow first thing in the morning and stay logged in all day. You can just minimize the program when you are not using it. This should save time.

If you use DyKnow to collect work from students, READ this!

Please train your students on how to save his/her DyKnow panel. That way, if you do not get their submission because of a technical reason, you can ask them to resubmit their SAVED panel. See screenshots below for how to train them to save. You can even project this newsletter if you need help showing them.

Step 1: Click the DyKnow icon in the top left and choose Save.

How Great is Google Classroom? A short story by Stephanie Robertson

Big image
Stephanie recently gave a bonus opportunity to her students (see image above). Students asked for a sign-in sheet and Stephanie said, "That was the 80s. Hello!" So, she decided to collect the bonus assignment through Google Classroom. Before Google Classroom, she shied away from bonus points because it seemed to be more work for her, but now all she has to do is grade this assignment in her pajamas!

If you want to learn what kinds of assignments are best collected in Google Classroom or how to use it, please see Melanie. But remember, Moodle should still be the hub! On Moodle, you direct students to Google Classroom assignments and other assignments/homework/test dates.
