Ms. Clark's Counseling Connection
Students learn about the 5 Point Scale!
When children understand their emotional regulation level, they can begin to use coping skills to help them stay calm and focused in class. Some examples of coping skills are deep breathing, stretching, taking a break, and talking it out. Visuals are always a good way to help remind children to try a coping skill. It is important to start using coping skills at a 2 or 3 on the scale, the goal is for the child to stay in control by not reaching a 5.
