A Message from our administrative team
Greetings LoES Parents and Families,
Friday, April 13th marked the end of the 3rd quarter of the 2017-2018 school year. There will be number of events and activities taking place within our LoES school community in the coming weeks and months as we finish the 4th quarter of the school year on a strong and positive note. Many of these events are listed below including: Field Day, Quarter 3 Awards Assemblies, Field Trips and our LoES PTA Spring Fair. We hope to see many of our families on Tuesday, April 17th at Shake Shack for our LoES Restaurant Night. This is a great way to get dinner for the family while also supporting LoES. Please make sure you bring your flyer in order for LoES to earn proceeds from the night. Please take a moment to review the other events listed below that will be happening within our school community. In closing, we want to thank all of those families who were able to participate in our Read-a-thon! So many of our students were fortunate enough and gain sponsors and our school has raised a significant sum of money that will ultimately support programs at LoES. Reading trackers from the students are due in school Monday and we are very grateful for all of our students hard work and the support of our families.
Warm Regards,
LoES Administrative Team

News & Notes
Regarding Make Up Days - This has not been a typical year for inclement weather make-up days and we understand that the use of days during Spring Break created some inconvenience for our families. Read the full message here.
Jump Rope for Heart Update - We want to thank you for your generous support of our Jump Rope for Heart. The final count of donations that were raised was $4,370.00. I truly appreciate all of your efforts, the students had a great time at the Jump while helping others. This was a team effort. Thank you. Our top student fund raiser was Lilanne Watson (K- Ms. Roemer's class with a total of $600. A certificate will be sent in recognition of her efforts). The monies will be sent this week to the American Heart Association and the gifts will be forthcoming in about 4 weeks. Thank you for your patience and most of all your time!
Quarter 3 Awards Assembly - our quarter 3 awards assembly is scheduled for Friday, April 27th. Students in grades K to 2 will be recognized in the morning from 9:05 am to 10:05 am and our intermediate students in grades 3 to 5 will be recognized in the afternoon from 2:10 pm to 3:10 pm. Those students being recognized will receive personalized letters in their Wednesday folders on Wednesday, April 25th.
Math Month continues at LoES - students have previously received math activity "Bingo" boards in this week's Wednesday folders with activities for students to complete during the month of April.
Bingo Details: Students will work to complete math activities at home in order to compete 5 in-a-row on their game boards. The bingo boards have numbers and then corresponding activities on the back. There are some easier activities to encourage students to start completing a bingo and more challenging ones if they are going for multiple bingos.
Prizes: For each "bingo" students achieve they will be entered to win a prize. There will be one winner per grade once April is over. The calendars are due May 1st. The winner from each grade can choose from a "math lunch bunch" (with our Math Support Teacher and 2 friends), a rubix speed cube (small for primary/reg. size for intermediate) or a math card game.
To get your students motivated you are invited to complete one of the tasks with your students at home each night. Thank you for getting our students excited about math month!
