WMS Food Drive

Next week we will be having a food drive competition between teams. Students may bring in non-perishable food items to their homeroom teacher. See bleow for more details!

We are preparing to take the NSCAS test for 7th and 8th grade students. It is our goal to provide every student, remote learning and in person learning students, the opportunity to participate in these assessments.

It is important that you know the following information:

• Testing all students is a part of both state and federal law.

• Testing results provides useful data for schools, districts, state, and national policy makers.

If your student is an extended campus learner, you will receive an email by Tuesday, March 16th with specific information on the testing schedule for extended campus learners.

The testing schedule for In Person 7th and 8th Grader Learners:

  • Language Arts - Wed, March 24 and Thurs, March 25

  • Science - Wed, April 7 and Thurs, April 8th (8th graders only)

  • Math - Tues, April 20 and Wed, April 21

Registration for 8th Grade Classes

The counselors will present to 7th grade language arts classes beginning March 16. The counselors will present a lesson on registering for 8th grade classes. Students will receive their course planning books at that time and will receive directions on how to enter their course requests in PowerSchool. We would like to invite parents/guardians to be a part of the process in helping their child choose their classes for 8th grade. The deadline for students to enter their course requests in PowerSchool will be April 9. Counselors will also be meeting individually with their assigned 7th grade students to go over course selections and will start that process the week of April 12.

In order to ensure appropriate class size and staffing for the coming year, the deadline for high school elective schedule changes has been adjusted to March 15th. All changes in elective classes need to be submitted to the student's counselor by the deadline in order to be adjusted for the Fall 2021 semester. Please feel free to reach out to your student's counselor with questions or concerns. Here are the counselor assignments:

Summer School at the High School for incoming 9th Graders

Current 8th Grade Parents - The date for sign up for summer school classes at Westside High School begins Wednesday, April 7th and begins at 8:00 A.M. and will take place in MySchoolBucks.

Registration Procedure:

  1. Log into your parent PowerSchool account,

  2. Click on MySchoolBucks on the left hand side,

    1. Go to the school store

    2. Select categories and select summer school.

    3. There you will select the class(es) that your student will take. *This does not finalize registration. There will be an approval process that will take up to three business days. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from MySchoolBucks.

In Need of Westside Socks?

Community Club still has some extra socks to sell for $15 per pair. Orders can be placed securely online anytime at WMS School Spirit Wear and paid orders will be delivered to your student at school. Again, ONLY socks are available at this time and when they're gone, they're gone!

WMS Track

As we move into our spring athletic season, we look forward to being able to get outside for our track season. Track practice will begin in mid-March. We are not sure of our exact start date yet, kind of waiting to see what mother nature brings our way in the next few weeks. Student-athletes interested in participating in track should listen closely to announcements in SPARK/Homeroom over the next few weeks for information about signing up for track.
