A Note From Mrs. Donnell

We hope that everyone enjoyed their Fall Break! Most of our CCS students and staff came back quite refreshed and ready to start a new 9 weeks! As we begin the Fall Season I thought it would be neat so learn some fun facts about fall. See below.

The largest squash on record to-date belonged to Joel Jarvis from Port Elgin, Ontario. His prize-winning gourd weighed 1,486.6 pounds. Think about how much butternut squash soup could be made with that!

When leaves change colour in the fall, they are actually becoming their true colour. In the summer, the chlorophyll (which is how the leaves receive nourishment from the sun) takes over and causes them to turn green and hide their colour.

Pumpkins are grown all over the world: six of seven continents (all except Antarctica), to be exact. Love pumpkin pie? The largest ever made was in New Bremen, Ohio—it was 20 feet in diameter and weighed 3,699 pounds! It took days to bake, but was cut into 5,000 slices when it was finished.

Bobbing for apples

Although this is a popular game that kids and adults play at Halloween, it actually started as a British courting ritual. Every male was assigned an apple and then the young eligible ladies would bob for them, hoping to grab the apple of their beloved.

Mortgage Match

Have you noticed the thermometer located opposite the office wall? CCS has been blessed with an anonymous donor who is willing to match every dollar given toward the school building loan with a two dollar match. A 2 for 1 mortgage match to pay off the existing debt. Here's the catch...the offer is only good for October, November, and December of 2018. Read the letter below to learn more about it and prayerfully consider how God may want you to help.

CHANGE IN PICK-UP LINE: Due to the amount of glare on the car windows, the pick-up crew has requested that name tags be placed on the passenger window of the car door instead of the front windshield. Thank you for your patience as we try to make improvements!
