What is a Chromebook?!

Introducing the Chromebook

  • Make sure there is nothing on the keyboard before closing the lid.
  • Only clean the screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or anti-static cloth.
Students! Treat Your Chromebook with Respect!

Logging into the Chromebook

You will use your Brenham ISD Google Apps account to login to the Chromebooks. Your login information is as follows:

email address - gradyearlastname.firstname@brenhamk-12.net

password - studentIDinitials

  • ex: 12345jrj

You will be prompted to choose an avatar or you can use the Chromebook webcam to take a picture of yourself. Just know that others who login after you may see that picture!

When you login for the first time, you will have to scroll down to the bottom of the agreement, type in the security letters (to make sure you're not a robot!) and accept the terms of the agreement (that you understand BISD can see everything you do!).

Using the Chromebook

  • Although a Chromebook is really just a browser in a laptop case, the "new" Chromebook actually has a desktop with all of your "apps."
  • In the bottom left corner are bookmarks to your core apps.
  • You can add apps by going to the Chrome Web Store.

Logging out of the Chromebook

When it's time to put the Chromebook away, please remember to do the following...

  • Click on your icon in the bottom right corner and go to Sign Out.
  • If you want to remove your profile from the Chromebook, click the X by your icon.
  • Click Shut down in the bottom left corner.
  • Gently close the lid and follow your teacher's instructions for storing the Chromebooks.

I am an Instructional Technology Specialist for Brenham ISD. My favorite hobby is tweeting and building my PLN. I love finding new Web 2.0 tools to share with my faculty and students and I think social networking can be a powerful educational tool. I am a techno junkie...a perfectionist in everything I do (sometimes to a fault!)...and I am one of those people who genuinely enjoys getting up and coming to work each day!
