The exact location of where this Earthquake hit is 18.443 N, 72.571 W. Major cities that were hit are Port Au Prince, Jacmel and Legolane. All in Haiti

Event Information

The plate that was effected since it's in Haiti is the Caribbean plate and the North American plate interacted with each other to cause this. When these interacted it cause a 7.0 magnitude Earthquake the second deadliest Earthquake of all time! 316,000 people died 300,000 were injured and 1 million were left homeless. Also, this country was already a very poor country and the earthquake just made this country worse.

Eruption History

Haiti has a ton of Earthquakes just like California but they have had only 2 major Earthquakes on the past 1,000 years. So Haiti is very prone to Earthquakes and it would be very hard to have it's history because it has to many to keep count of.
