About The Snowy Day

Ezra Jack Kneats is the writer and illustrater of The Snowy Day. He grow up in the 1930's during the great depression. His family was very poor. His book was the most important book in the 20th century. It won the Caldecott medal in 1963.

I think his purpose for writing this great book was to entertain about a kid who goes outside for the day and plays outside in the snow.I think snow day won the Caldecott medal for its great illustration and it made sense.

The Snowy Day compared to other books is very different. I am comparing it to Noah's Ark. The illustrations in Noah's ark look like they were sort of sketched and then water colored. In The Snowy Day it is drawn with colored pencil and regular pencil is what it looks like. In Noah's Ark there are not any words accept for on the first page. I think that the illustrations go well very well with both books. I really enjoy both books even tho they are so different.
