Spotlight on Strategies
Overview: Instructional Methods - Learner Centered
As we wind down toward the end of the year, I thought a little refresher on some of the instructional methods for learner centered instruction might help as you plan those end of the year assignments.
Learner Centered Instructional Methods
Jigsaw
Break students into groups, giving each member a different task. Bring group back together and share.
Modeling and Simulation
Use technology to simulate a real event . Practice without fear of failure OR set up a situation that allows the learner to try out the experience. It can be instructor creaed or learner centered.
Cooperative/Collaborative Groups
Involves small groups working together to accomplish a learning task. This draws out the best characteristics of the group. Assign roles.
Spotlight Strategy: Use of Social Media in the Classroom.
Use social media to effectively share a message. Get feedback. Keep it short and to the point. Did you convey effectively the message?
