Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
May 8, 2020
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
With this week being Teacher Appreciation week, many thanks to those of you who took the time to send a message to any teachers at Muskego Lakes who have made a difference in the lives of your children.
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we gathered feedback from our students so we could learn how virtual learning is going. And of course, we want to share the results with you.
82% of students reported they are on track and/or are proud of how they are doing
15% of students reported that they are struggling a little
3% of students indicated they are having a really hard time
Together with our student services team, we will be reaching out to the students who are struggling so we can do our best to problem solve with them and better support them.
We also checked in on how much time students are spending on virtual learning:
3% of students are spending 2 hours or less a day on their virtual learning.
86% of students are spending 3-5 hours a day on their virtual learning.
11% are spending more than 6 hours a day on their virtual learning
We will also reach out to students spending more than 6 hours a day on virtual learning to learn more about how we can problem solve with them so their days are not so long.
When we asked students if they know how to get help from a teacher during virtual learning:
99.3% of students indicated they know how to get help (& shared with us the method they use to reach their teachers)
0.7% of students reported that they do not know how to get help from a teacher during virtual learning
We will reach out those students who are unsure how to get help from from their teachers to make sure they have a plan moving forward.
Finally, we asked if students wanted someone from our student services team to check in on them.
95.9% of students indicated that they did not need a check in at this time
4.1% of students requested that someone check in on them
Our student services team has already begun checking in on those students this week.
We are grateful that so many of our students provided us with important feedback on how virtual learning is going for them. Your input is also very important to us. So please consider taking a few minutes to share your input in the survey found in this newsletter below.
We hope you are staying safe and healthy! And please remember to reach out if you or your child are having a hard time. We are here to listen, problem solve, and support you in any way we can! Welcome, Ms. Bakkala!
We are excited to announce that Ms. Bakkala will be joining the Muskego Lakes community for the 2020-21 school year as our new band teacher. She will graduate from UW - Eau Claire this spring. Ms. Bakkala comes to us with a passion for teaching middle school students. Along with her middle school experience, she has experience as a band camp counselor and coordinator. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to build strong relationships with students and partner with them as they learn. Her passion for students and love of music make her the perfect person to grow our beginner band students. She cannot wait to meet her students and families next fall!
