Principal's Message
Mariner Families and Community,
The first quarter is coming to an end on Friday, November 6th. Grading and transcript recording will look a bit different this year. At the end of the quarter, typical semester classes such as Health and PE will be finished. These classes will be recorded on the transcript with a .5 credit. Typical year-long classes, such as English and math, will not be marked for .5 credit at the quarter. However, parents will receive a progress report grade for these classes. These classes will end on January 29th, and at that time the transcript will be recorded with a 1.0 credit. The other difference in grading this year is that there will be no “Fs” on the grade report or transcript. However, there will be “NCs” which means the student get No Credit for that class. Hopefully, we won’t see many of these because they will set students back for on-time graduation. Thanks to those who joined our town hall Virtual Open House earlier this month. If you were unable to attend, you can view a recorded version on our website. You will also find the links to videos which introduce each teacher and their classes. Tuesday, November 3rd is election day. If you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to get out and vote! Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to educate your children from a distance. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Go Marauders!

Counseling Corner
Greetings from the counseling department!
Hello from the counseling department!
- All counselors have been working on completing senior letters to send out to families. The purpose of these letters is to let families know the graduation status of their seniors. This letter will have information on the amount of credits they have and all the other requirements they need to meet by June of 2021. This will be the first round of senior letters you will receive.
- Counselors will be visiting 2nd period classes starting November 2nd to do a transcript analysis lesson with students. Students 10th-12th received their individual transcript from their counselor through Schoology and were directed to watch a video located on their counselor Schoology course. We will be answering questions from students based on the videos they watched and the transcript they received.
- Since 9th grades do not have a transcript, we will be reviewing “What is a credit” with them.
- We continue to work with families and students during this time on various topics. Please do not hesitate in contacting your student’s school counselor for any concerns/questions.
Thank you!
The counseling team.

Stay Connected!
Information and news about Mariner High School are available in a variety of formats. This year, you will receive a phone message and email from the district if we close or delay school. This helps ensure we reach everyone, including those without an email address on file, before students stand outside at a bus stop, and before parents leave for work. If you added a text message number in the Blackboard portal https://mukilteoschooldistrict.bbcportal.com/ you would also receive a text message. As usual, school delays or closures will be posted on the district website and posted through FlashAlert, which also feeds into mainstream local news feeds.
