Roy Cloud School Newsletter
September, 10, 2021
Hello Roy Cloud Families!
I had the opportunity to be a part of the Middle School ASB Leadership class this afternoon and I am so impressed with the thoughtful ways they expressed their ideas, asked their questions and creatively began to plan for schoolwide and community outreach activities. On Monday, members from ASB Communications will help us begin our day with the Pledge of Allegiance and Morning Announcements. We have missed this tradition since March 2020 and are excited to begin our day, united as one student body.
School Site Council will hold its first meeting on Monday, September 20, 3:00 - 4:00 PM. School Site Council is (SSC) is group of teachers, parents, administrators, and interested community members who work together to develop and monitor a school's improvement plan. It is a legally required decision-making body for any school receiving federal funds. The California Legislature believes that the individuals who are most affected by the operation of the school should have a major role in the decisions regarding how a school functions. Education should be a joint effort of parents, teachers, administrators, and other school staff. The actions of the School Site Council are the first step in a formal process for developing improvement strategies and for allocating resources to support these efforts. The SSC decides upon the focus of the school’s academic instructional programs and all related categorical resource expenditures for a school.
Currently, we have all member positions filled, however, anyone is welcome to join the meetings and they are open to the public. Our agenda will be posted next week. Zoom Link.
Finally, it seems no newsletter is complete without some current COVID information. Thank you for your feedback regarding notifications. If we do have cause to send out further notifications, school sites will now be sending THREE notifications: 1) School wide; 2) Grade Level (new notification); 3) Close Contact exposure.
Mobile COVID Testing for your students will be available at Roy Cloud beginning September 22 and 24, and continuing on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:15 - 9:45 AM. Your child must be registered in order to participate in COVID testing. If you have already registered, you do not need to register again. If you have NOT registered, please see the link in the "Reminders" section below. We will have tables set up at the entrance to the Jefferson parking lot. If you are participating, please park on the street and walk up for testing with your child. DO NOT park in the parking lot, nor block any drop off flow of traffic. More details will follow in next week's newsletter.
Stay safe, be well and enjoy your weekend.
Diane
